Uncle Sam taken for a ride

Got Pork?

''The head of the association of pork producers, Juan Luis Uccelli, supported Fernandez's speech by saying that Denmark and Japan have a much more "harmonious" sexual life then the Argentines because they eat a lot of pig meat.''

Argentina's president thinks eating pig meat is really sexy. Many people in this beef-loving nation reacted with surprise Thursday after Cristina Fernandez promoted pork in a speech during which she not only said pork is better than Viagra, but suggested she's personally proven it. "I didn't know that eating pork improved sexual activity," Fernandez said in a meeting with representatives of the swine industry late Wednesday. "It is much more gratifying to eat some grilled pork than to take Viagra." She even joked that "it was all good" after she enjoyed some pork with her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner. "I think they might be right," Fernandez said to a laughing audience. The president's half-joking speech in which she announced subsidies for the pork industry won prominent play on television and radio stations, prompting discussions on whether Argentines should add more pork to their diet. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/162/365703859_72e0019b72.jpg

How to Fall 35,000 Feet—And Survive

''You're six miles up, alone and falling without a parachute. Though the odds are long, a small number of people have found themselves in similar situations—and lived to tell the tale. Here's PM's 120-mph, 35,000-ft, 3-minutes-to-impact survival guide.''
You have a late night and an early flight. Not long after takeoff, you drift to sleep. Suddenly, you’re wide awake. There’s cold air rushing everywhere, and sound. Intense, horrible sound. Where am I?, you think. Where’s the plane? You’re 6 miles up. You’re alone. You’re falling. Things are bad. But now’s the time to focus on the good news. (Yes, it goes beyond surviving the destruction of your aircraft.) Although gravity is against you, another force is working in your favor: time. Believe it or not, you’re better off up here than if you’d slipped from the balcony of your high-rise hotel room after one too many drinks last night. Or at least you will be. Oxygen is scarce at these heights. By now, hypoxia is starting to set in. You’ll be unconscious soon, and you’ll cannonball at least a mile before waking up again. When that happens, remember what you are about to read. The ground, after all, is your next destination. Granted, the odds of surviving a 6-mile plummet are extraordinarily slim, but at this point you’ve got nothing to lose by understanding your situation. There are two ways to fall out of a plane. The first is to free-fall, or drop from the sky with absolutely no protection or means of slowing your descent. The second is to become a wreckage rider, a term coined by Massachusetts-based amateur historian Jim Hamilton, who developed the Free Fall Research Page—an online database of nearly every imaginable human plummet. That classification means you have the advantage of being attached to a chunk of the plane. In 1972, Serbian flight attendant Vesna Vulovic was traveling in a DC-9 over Czechoslovakia when it blew up. She fell 33,000 feet, wedged between her seat, a catering trolley, a section of aircraft and the body of another crew member, landing on—then sliding down—a snowy incline before coming to a stop, severely injured but alive. http://www.origin.popularmechanics.com/science/air_space/4344036.html

Bible Eschatology

''Prosperity and complacency will dilute even the church with a gutless form of counterfeit godliness that trivializes sin in the name of tolerance. Still, more and more false prophets will claim to have attained “Christhood”; and technological breakthroughs will fabricate powerful signs and lying wonders that threaten to seduce the gullible with what the Bible calls “strong delusion.”

For thousands of years, cultures around the world have contemplated our planet’s looming end, the last judgment, and the hereafter. Futuristic visions, symbolism, and messianic themes mark un-canonical apocalyptic literature between c. 200 B.C. and A.D. 200; and for hundreds of years, each new generation has poured over poetic verses (quatrains) contained within Nostradamus’ ten books called Centuries. Since the age of the Renaissance, writings of this mid-16th century French sage-prophet have awed mystics seeking alleged enlightenment.
Coupled with stark realism his dreadful, confusing visions captivate the imaginations of forward-looking sleuths. Accordingly, by means of twelve episodes on three DVDs, the HISTORY™ Channel visits the most chilling of Nostradamus’ end-time prophecies, as well as those derived from mythology, hieroglyphs, and other ancient texts. Correlating findings with today’s front-page news is called the “Nostradamus Effect.”
A True Prophet’s Accountability
As was the case with John the Revelator, Nostradamus described with eerie accuracy modern technology unrecognizable to him. Many scholars accept prophecies of Nostradamus as “divine, comprehensive, unified, and factual.” Problem is, unlike John, the messenger Nostradamus walked the line between science and magic.
Magic is the art of the Magi, the Persian priestly caste devoted to the practice of religion. Over time, the word “magic” came to mean all occult rituals that influence the course of nature, dominate men and circumstances, and otherwise tap forces of the unseen world—e.g., forecasting the future (divination)—which the Bible forbids.
Although not necessarily delusional, prophets of “the curious arts” drew from sources other than the God of the Bible. Make no mistake. Their track record fell dismally short of the biblical standard for accuracy. To qualify as God’s true prophet, one must prophesy with uncontested exactness—no magic involved. Biblical prophets were not mere interpreters of God’s will; they uttered actual words God gave them; and this, without error.

Homeschooling in an anti-Christian society

''It is not enough to just curse the darkness. We must replace rather than reform the public schools. Here are 10 ways homeschoolers can go on homeschool offense and Lord willing spark a revival in America.''

Being from Ohio, I have a natural dislike for the SEC and particularly Florida football. My favorite team Ohio State lost to Florida in the BCS national championship in 2007 and to LSU the following year. Putting aside my hatred for Florida football, it’s hard not to like Tim Tebow. As a Christian, I have watched with interest how the media responded to his decision to put Bible verses on his eye black, (it generated 94 million searches on Google), or his decision to eschew the temptations in college football, and remain a virgin. Now he will have a pro-life Super bowl ad, on one of the largest stages, celebrating his mother’s decision to choose life. The more I hear about Tebow the man; the more it becomes clear that something is different about him. He shows more boldness than most pastors. While Tebow is not perfect, I thank God for his testimony and that he was not socialized in the government schools. The results of decades of government school influence and “socialization,” has been culturally catastrophic for our nation.
“We now have a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-Christian society that is pushing a secular worldview in our government schools. All of this has come to pass because of the apathy of the average Christian and in many cases, the lack of courage in the pulpit.” (Bruce Shortt, The Old Schoolhouse, spring 2009)
Shortt goes on to say that, “Christian educators, particularly homeschool families, are the mustard seed that gives hope for revival in this dark time.”
"Since it began some 25 years ago, homeschooling has been playing defense," said E. Ray Moore Jr., Founder of Exodus Mandate. "We've been trying to establish its niche and haven't been aggressive in promoting it.” "Now the environment in the public schools has grown so toxic that it's our turn to ask Christian parents who've left their children in these schools, ''What about socialization?'

Lack of uncommon sense

''If ignorance is bliss, you may ask yourself why the ignorant masses seem so often to be raging about something. But then, how long do they stay mad about the same thing? Like George Orwell’s proles, they lack the common sense necessary to focus on a single grievance long enough to do anything about it.''

These are the times that try men’s souls. When Thomas Paine penned these words late in 1775, he was appealing to working class Americans to decide in favor of independence from Big Brother Britain. Paine didn’t use the deep, philosophical arguments with flowery Latin words so favored by scholars in the Age of Enlightenment; he reasoned with the common man, asking him to use his common sense and seriously consider the current state of affairs. His strategy would run into serious problems today because common sense has gone the way of common courtesy.
Most Americans today lack that special reasoning skill so common 235 years ago. They lack common sense. That’s partly because most Americans’ vocabularies are too small for them to articulate a significant thought, and nearly all their life experiences are limited to what someone else has told them or what they’ve watched on TV, heard in the mindless lyrics of a pop song or read (I use the term loosely here.) in some tabloid headline. The very idea of studying several seemingly different facts, comparing them with other facts and personal experiences then deducing a solution is as foreign to most Americans as a foreign language. Those few Americans who possess what used to be called common sense actually have uncommon sense, now that thinking is left up to Big Brother America.
The culprit most responsible for making common sense an uncommon thing is the public school system, which really didn’t get underway until after Mr. Lincoln’s War Against the Southern People. It was used as a means of re-educating (indoctrinating) Southern children first then the rest of the country. Their success at brainwashing Southern children is best illustrated in Southerners today, who, for the most part, curse the name of Billy Sherman for burning Southern homes, businesses and churches but worship the name of his commander-in-chief, who gave Bad Billy his marching orders to burn Southern homes, businesses and churches.

Calf. to run out of cash before April

State Controller John Chiang issued a stern warning Friday about California's cash reserves, telling legislative leaders and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger they must act on nearly $9 billion in budget cuts the governor is seeking by March — or the state will run out of cash to pay its bills.
Without making those cuts — which Chiang says will pump $1.3 billion into the state's checking account — California would be broke by April 1, no fooling.
The state wouldn't climb back to what's considered a safe level of cash on hand, $2.5 billion, until later that month, when tax revenues are expected to begin flowing into Sacramento.
"While our current cash condition is marginally better than it was one year ago," Chiang wrote to leaders, "it is still precarious."
Even with the budget cuts, the state's cash reserve would still be far below that cushion in March and April.
To that end, Chiang is calling for an additional $2 billion in cash-flow "solutions." Looking at previous cash crunches, that could mean some payments, like income tax refunds, would be delayed for a few weeks to keep the cushion intact.

Drop in contributions squeezing megachurch

''Crystal Cathedral laying off 50,selling surplus church property...Charles said the church's revenue sank 27% from roughly $30 million in 2008 to $22 million in 2009. Anticipating a drop in 2010 revenue, he added, "If it maintains, that would be fine, but we don't have a crystal ball, so we are cutting." The Crystal Cathedral, the Garden Grove megachurch, is laying off 50 workers, selling surplus property and may pull its "Hour of Power" television show in up to eight markets because of a precipitous drop in contributions. The 7,000-member church also has canceled its "Glory of Easter" pageant, a popular reenactment of the life and death of Jesus Christ, which sold tens of thousands of tickets each year. "This cuts to the heart of our ministry," said spokesman John Charles. "It is sad news."Charles said the church's revenue sank 27% from roughly $30 million in 2008 to $22 million in 2009. Anticipating a drop in 2010 revenue, he added, "If it maintains, that would be fine, but we don't have a crystal ball, so we are cutting."The church, founded by the Rev. Robert H. Schuller more than 50 years ago, lost members in the wake of a family feud after he retired. His son, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, succeeded his father, but stepped down in 2008 after disagreements. His sister, is now the church's leader. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-crystal-cathedral30-2010jan30,0,396749.story

The American mainstream media drowns - in leftist ideology

Keith Olbermann is host of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.” on MSNBC - This poor guy either needs full scuba gear or a fully appointed submarine.

''During the 1960s a veritable revolution was brought to bear on American institutions by disenchanted young people, namely my own generation. The revolutionaries’ primary raison d’etre, in the beginning, was ending the Vietnam War. At the war’s conclusion, however, the American boomer left, some of whom had by now become communist revolutionaries, was far from satisfied. From their own privileged pedestals of affluence and prestige, they viewed America has inherently corrupt and in dire need of complete reorganizing.''

James O’Keefe still gets my vote for investigative journalist of the year. Teaming with Hannah Giles to expose illegal and immoral tactics deep in the ACORN shakedown operation was brilliant. Now, O’Keefe has one-upped himself with his exposure of an MSM drowning in its own leftist ideology.
American journalists once cheered for those among their own who were brave enough to risk jail in the quest of exposing corruption and malfeasance. Yet when O’Keefe and his band of whippersnapper journalists went undercover, disguised as telephone repairmen in the hopes of exposing Senator Landrieu’s denying her own constituents phone access to her, the MSM fell all over themselves denouncing the young men.
Rush to judgment? No. It was a stampede.

GOP has enough votes to block Obama agenda

Looking for Mr. Smith

''Now that it has enough votes to sustain a filibuster, it is exceedingly likely that a Senate minority bent on pure obstructionism will have enough votes to block virtually all of the majority's legislative agenda.''

Let's face it, the GOP's "Party of No" strategy is working. Democrats lost a once-unlosable Senate seat to a no-name Republican last Tuesday. Progressive voters are depressed by the many pounds of flesh conservatives extracted from cherished priorities such as health-care reform. Right-wing voters are jubilant about the prospect of a government shutdown.
With conservatives salivating, and progressives seriously questioning whether American government is too crippled to solve major problems, it's difficult to imagine that Democrats won't take additional losses next November. Even if they don't, however, a minority bent on total obstructionism now enjoys the power to veto nearly any bill or nominee. With the exception of the annual budget, literally nothing is likely to pass the Senate for the next three years.
It doesn't have to be this way, however. A long line of Supreme Court decisions forbid former legislators from tying the hands of their successors. Thus, although current senators may choose to impose a supermajority rule on themselves, they cannot impose such a rule on a new Senate. Under the Supreme Court's precedents, just 51 senators will have a brief opportunity to reform or eliminate the filibuster next January -- but this opportunity will disappear if they do not act right away.
The Supreme Court's first clear pronouncement on whether past lawmakers can bind future lawmakers was an 1879 case known as Newton v. Commissioners. In that case, the Ohio Legislature had passed a law in 1846 providing that the Mahoning County seat was "permanently established" at Canfield, Ohio. Nevertheless, in 1874, state lawmakers passed a new law moving the county seat to Youngstown, Ohio.
Canfield's residents were not amused. During its time as Mahoning County seat, Canfield made significant investments in its county government, purchasing land to house county buildings and spending a significant sum to build a courthouse "suitable for the transaction of the public business of the county." Losing the county seat was also a tremendous blow to local businesses, as Mahoning County residents would routinely travel to Canfield to vote or to petition their government, patronizing Canfield establishments throughout their visit.

Not if, when, for you and me

Dear reader, Faith guides our destiny; it is in whom we place our faith that determines our eternal destiny. Soon – very soon – every individual in the world will be presented with two choices, one of which will lead to eternal life with the Savior while the other leads to a second death in the lake of fire.

“And the LORD God said unto the woman, “What is this that thou hast done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” And the LORD God said unto the serpent, “Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” -Genesis 3:13-15
There has been much conjecture as to the causes, both physical and spiritual, of the devastation that was wrought upon Port-au-Prince the capitol city of Haiti by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Some proffer as a cause a pact with the devil consummated in 1791 by voodoo priests who ritualistically offered up to satanic spirits a black pig as a blood sacrifice and pledged two hundred years of servitude in exchange for the devil’s help in delivering Haiti from its French masters. These venture that it was God’s judgment that brought upon Haiti this catastrophic event, an event that all but leveled the city of Port-au-Prince and killed one hundred eleven thousand of its residents.
Those who make this argument punctuate their contention by noting a contrast, both historically and currently, between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, a nation that shares the island of Hispaniola with its Haitian neighbor. These compare the grinding poverty, the immoral and decadent governance, and the depleted and un-restored natural resources of Haiti with the verdant and beautiful landscape, the thriving economy, and the healthy governing institutions of the Dominican Republic, and then rest their case. Certainly, such a calamitous circumstance could only befall a heathen nation of occultist inclination and pagan beliefs.
Aren’t we fortunate that we reside in a Christian nation? Do I detect a resounding Amen? If I did, and that being the case, we should all be able to respond affirmatively by supporting all of the following statements.

Who stopped health care?

''The Washington Post article said finding a politically painless way to rein in this spending is proving to be enormously difficult because many Americans view Medicare with a sense of entitlement because Medicare is financed in part by a payroll tax, giving the program an image close to that of Social Security – a benefit that many Americans think they have earned.'' The title of this article should catch readers with short memories totally off guard or maybe like Rip Van Winkle they’ll think they’ve been asleep and just woke up. Yup! Short memories are what politicians count on and many journalists and liberal talk show wags are accusing the Republican party of being the party of “no” regarding health care reform. They are asking, “Where is the GOP plan on health care reform and budget reductions?”
KGO Radio talk show host John Rothman out of San Francisco said on January 22 he worked for Republican President Richard Nixon. John told about Nixon’s health care plan in 1971 which he claims is nearly identical to Barack’s in its original form; however, I was under the impression the president delegated the job of health care reform to the Congress and the Senate. Rothman continues, “Massachusetts Senator Teddy Kennedy said just before his death one of the greatest mistakes he ever made was not supporting Nixon on health care.” I’ve discovered one of the main “change agents” is a person by the name of Ira Magaziner. The Christian Conscience reported in November 1995 that he was a senior White House staff member overseeing the details of the National Health Care Reform. He stated in St. Louis in 1993, “The traditional health insurance industry will ‘disappear’ and Medicaid, the tax-supported insurance program for the poor, would merge into the main health care system.” There you have it folks. Another admitted Keynesian socialist idea expanding in America – socialized medicine.

The power of Christians not being used

''I’m fed up…absolutely appalled and disheartened as to what is going on in our country—a country that once stood for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, pursuit of happiness, liberty, fairness, human rights, and the American dream.''
What I am seeing is a steady but aggressive move to Socialism, not only by the rulers in our nation but also by the Power Elite (the Illuminati, central bankers, wealthy head honchos worldwide in the background calling the shots). Years from now, we’ll be telling our children and grandchildren about the good ol’ days in America, when she was once the most powerful and wealthiest nation on the globe, where people could achieve the American dream, where compassion and humanity ruled, where art and culture were honored, where jobs were abundant in industry and business, where food was plentiful, and where her military prowess was unparalleled. To our children and grandchildren, ol’ America will be a new concept, as the America they will come to know will be a mere shell of herself, an infrastructure of Democratic Socialism or Fascism, if not outright Communism.
And if you don’t believe we are now a blooming socialist/fascist/communist nation, consider the layers of bureaucracy and insulation (and cost to taxpayers)—from czars, to the Cabinet, to (now) White House governors-- Mr. Obama has placed between the government and the people. Look at this breaking news:
It looks as though President Obama today has taken his first step towards martial law in America. I just pulled this piece off the wires, which indicates the issuance of his new executive order. This order sets up the framework for the use of federal troops and the combination of state and federal agencies under the Defence Department. This is startling news for many reasons. Why now? Why now?
- President Obama Signs Executive Order Establishing Council of Governors; Monday, 11 January 2010 19:07 Press Release Latest National News; 12766
- Washington, D.C.--(ENEWSPF)--January 11, 2010. The President today signed an Executive Order establishing a Council of Governors to strengthen further the partnership between the Federal Government and State Governments to protect our Nation against all types of hazards. When appointed, the Council will be reviewing such matters as involving the National Guard of the various States; homeland defence [sic]; civil support; synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defence [sic], and civil support activities.

God helps those who ...

''God can do for you what you have been unable to do for yourself. But you will have to make a candid admission. You will need to acknowledge that you can't do it on your own, that you are helpless, and that you are in need of God's help and God's forgiveness. And if you will do that and reach out to him, then he will forgive you. And your life will be changed – for the better.''

Some people think the Bible teaches that God helps those who help themselves. But you won't find this quoted in the Bible. In fact, it is not a biblical concept. The fact is that God helps those who can't help themselves. God helps those who see how radical their condition is, who recognize there is no way they can save their own souls.
The Bible tells the story of a man like this, a man who was in a very difficult state – a seemingly hopeless situation. I think it may even have been his utter helplessness that drew Jesus to him. He had been abandoned. He was a desperately lonely man, a man who, for all practical purposes, was an outcast.
Paralyzed for 38 years, he spent his days by a pool in Jerusalem called Bethesda, hoping for a miracle. All alone and in need, he was surrounded by people who were blind, lame and paralyzed. Each were waiting for the stirring of the water – believed to be the
work of an angel – because the first one to step into the pool would be healed.
Perhaps the night before, this man had offered up a prayer to God. Maybe he prayed, "Lord, if you would just help me be the first one into the water when the angel stirs it up, I would be so grateful." Little did he realize that God himself would come in human form and give him far more than what he asked for. Instead of sending an angel to stir up the waters, God was about to stir up his
life – not just physically, but – more importantly – spiritually. The Bible tells us that God is able to do above and beyond that which we could ask or think (see Ephesians 3:20). And that is what happened in this man's life.
The Bible says that "Jesus saw him lying there" (John 5:6 NIV). What I find interesting is that he wasn't the only person there at the pool. There were a lot of people. But we don't read that Jesus saw them. The Bible says that Jesus saw him. And that is important to realize, because when God looks into a crowd of people, he sees you. He sees you as an individual, just like he saw this man. In the midst of all this activity Jesus had time for an individual whom he knew by name.

Dred Scott and corporate personhood

The negro has no rights which the white man was bound to respect.
– Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857)

I can summarize in five words the Supreme Court's Jan. 23 landmark decision, "Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission":
Corporations are persons; money = speech
The First Amendment plainly states, "Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech."
However, since the 1907 Tillman Act, American
businesses and corporations, the lifeblood of our market-capitalist economy for more than 230 years, have had their political voices injustly restricted through limits on how much money they can contribute to political campaigns.
Alex Barker, writing for the
Financial Times gave the shameful historical background of the Tillman Act:
The 1907 Tillman Act – named after "Pitchfork Ben" Tillman, a vile racist senator who made his name rampaging through the South attacking blacks and Republicans with his "Red Shirt" band of paramilitary terrorists – was the first attempt by Congress to clean up politics.
Tillman's motive – stopping
funding to civil rights politicians – was pretty disgraceful. But the means he sought was supported by the likes of Theodore Roosevelt, who were more interested in tackling dirty politics. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123607

Provocative, why is the Tebow ad provocative?

3D Ultrasound and Newborn Baby

''So what's bothering these women? Two things. First, the enabler of human brutality is de-humanization. Pro-abortionists know that our existing legalized-abortion regime can only continue as long as we keep the human face off abortion...''

Why are pro-abortion groups so up in arms about the Tim Tebow ad that CBS will run during the Superbowl?
According to the press release of Focus on the Family, the Christian organization sponsoring the ad, University of Florida football star and Heisman Trophy winner Tebow and his mother, Pam, "will share a personal story centered on the theme of "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life."
The Tebows are devout Christians, and Pam gave birth to Tim despite advice from her doctor to abort because of illness during her pregnancy.
Since the script is not publicly available, all we know is the family story and knowledge that the ad passed muster with CBS.
We spoke with Focus on the Family spokesman Gary Schneeberger and asked if the ad in any way speaks to the politics of abortion. The answer was an emphatic "no."
According to Schneeberger, it's "not selling, it is celebrating" and is about the "love between a mother and a son."
So what's provoking the letter writing campaign of feminist groups to CBS to pull the ad? Why would the National Organization for Women call this "offensive to women" or would the Women's Media Center call it "divisive?"
Sure, there's no question that Focus on the Family is pro-life and opposes legal and readily accessible abortion. But CBS wouldn't be running this ad if its focus was political advocacy.

THE Super Bowl Ad

Don't fear. Choose love. Choose life

''...you'd think Roe v. Wade had just been overturned (it will be) and that every bra-burning broad in Berkeley faced time in the pokey. The usual suspects – a shrill gaggle of leftist "women's groups" – got the vapors, hit the fainting couch and demanded in their enduring "take-the-trash-out!" tone that CBS censor the Tebows and pull the spot.''

"If you don't like it just turn off the TV!" goes the liberal mantra as all form of sexual perversion, obscenity and violence slinks unannounced into our living rooms. But when the message is perceived to undercut some carefully crafted left-wing narrative? Well, then not so much.
Fire-breathing feminists, liberal-media automatons and other "progressive" pro-aborts are anything if not predictable. They've once again concocted controversy where – to the emotionally stable among us – there is none.
The latest target of their cultish ire is Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and all-around-great-guy, Tim Tebow. A crusty glut of anti-birth femi-ninnies (so cute when they're mad), representing an ever-dwindling number of pro-abortion fundamentalists, have drawn a bead on Tebow for the crime of, well, existing.
Additionally charged with "speaking while Christian," Tebow has knotted many ninny knickers by agreeing to participate, along with his mother Pam, in a Super Bowl ad commissioned by the Christian group, Focus on the Family.
As the mainstream media tells it, the ad will, in about 30 seconds, apparently set the "women's movement" back 40 years. It's additionally presumed (nobody's seen it or even read the script mind you) to both horrify and offend the entire nation.
So what have these dastardly Dobson devils done? Leaks indicate that the spot will share the story – inspirational by any objective standard – of how Pam Tebow "chose" to carry baby Tim to term despite a doctor's recommendation that she have an abortion. That's it. No "abortion is murder" tag line (it is). No "down with Planned Parenthood" pitch (yes, please). Simply: "Hi, I'm Pam. I chose to have my baby and not abort him. He won the Heisman. Neat, huh?"

Ants, grasshoppers and God

''It should be obvious to anyone with an insect-sized grain of common sense that government entitlements discourage able-bodied Grasshoppers from working. And on a larger scale, I'm concerned that as more and more Grasshoppers receive the resources which are forcibly removed from the Ants, there will be fewer Ants to support the Grasshoppers.''

I've been, because of our current economy writing about poverty lately, specifically its causes as well as what our obligations are (both personal and societal) to alleviate it.
This is a dicey subject to address for two reasons. First, because of our current economy, there are many people who are a heck of a lot poorer than they were two years ago. And second, any time someone addresses the issue of poverty, except from a leftist position, they are automatically labeled as cruel, unfeeling, lacking in compassion, and the usual plethora of criticism – without consideration as to whether the arguments have any merit or not.
The reason this issue came up was because of a recent comment on my blog entry
"The Ant and the Grasshopper."
I had posted one of those humorous modern-twist rewrites of Aesop's classic fable circulating around the Internet. Most of the readers got a chuckle out of it.
But someone took exception to our amusement and accused us of not being Christian because we preferred the original moral of the story ("Be Responsible for Yourself").
This poses an interesting question. To what extent are we socially, morally and ethically responsible for others? At what point do the Ants share their hard-earned resources with the Grasshoppers? And is it ethical to force the Ants to distribute their resources to the Grasshoppers at the point of a gun? What responsibility do the Grasshoppers have in their own fate?
Let's make one thing clear: In Aesop's fable, what distinguishes the Ant from the Grasshopper is a
work ethic. Nothing more, nothing less. The Grasshopper is not down on his luck while the Ant is busy storing food. He is not ill, or handicapped, or in debt, or out of work, or any other hardship an insect might face which would keep him from working toward a secure future for himself. The resources are freely available to both insects. Nothing – nothing whatsoever – is preventing the Grasshopper from getting his rear in gear and storing food for the winter – except an attitude problem.
Yet according to the critic, we should not presume to call ourselves Christian because the Bible admonishes us to love our neighbor as ourselves. The selfish Ant should share his food with the poor helpless Grasshopper regardless of what caused the Grasshopper to get into his predicament in the first place.

Obama betrays 'common values' to coddle sodomites

How will Obama's pledge to open-the-armed-forces-to-self-identified-homosexuals affect the electorate which goes to the polls on Nov. 2, just a little more than nine months from now?

Toward the end of his State of the Union address, President Obama said:
"Abroad, America's greatest source of strength has always been our ideals. Same is true at home. … If you adhere to our common values, you should be treated no different than anyone else."
In the very next paragraph following his salute to what he defined as "our common values," the president announced his adherence to what is surely not a common value in the United States. For he said: "This year, I will
work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they are."
That statement is outrageously false. For under the presently existing armed forces regulation of "Don't ask, don't tell," homosexuals can be enlisted and remain in the service provided (1) they do not advertise their sexual orientation and (2) they never engage in it in barracks, foxholes, aboard
ship or in submarines.
How could this president salute the ideal of adhering to our common values by defying the strong advice of more than 1,100 of our armed forces' generals and admirals?
Don't miss David Kupelian's culture-war classic, "The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised as Freedom"
These leaders, of armed forces in which Barack Obama has never served – until he became our civilian commander in chief – are well aware of the disastrous effect of subjecting entire barracks full of young male recruits to the command (including after hours) of Sodom's sergeants, as well as officers who are self-identified homosexual militants.

Ultimate jobs program: Suspend Immigration

''It is true that a moratorium on immigration will not solve our unemployment problem, but this is a classic case where the old axiom ought to be heeded: when you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is – stop digging.''

In his State of the Union speech a few days ago, President Obama said, "Jobs must be our number one focus in 2010." I agree with that statement. But unfortunately, Obama's solution will just make things worse and he overlooked a real jobs program that would not cost taxpayers a penny.
Many Democratic strategists and talking heads are saying the party erred by putting
health care before the economy. But the real problem is not Obama's priorities, but that his solution to every problem is more government spending.
Obama first took on jobs by wasting over a trillion dollars in his stimulus package, and then he tried to deal with health care by proposing another trillion-dollar boondoggle. The new jobs bill he outlined in the State of the Union speech was more of the same: spending money we don't have on public sector jobs in infrastructure, education and energy.
Instead of putting future generations further into debt, we could immediately free up millions of jobs by tackling immigration reform – true immigration reform, not the imposter called amnesty.
Concerned about the flow of illegal aliens over our border? Don't miss Tom Tancredo's book, "In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security"
Barack Obama mentioned immigration only briefly at the end of his speech when he said, "We should continue the
work of fixing our broken immigration system – to secure our borders and enforce our laws, and ensure that everyone who plays by the rules can contribute to our economy and enrich our nation." http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123528

Grass-roots rebellion: Voters targeting RINOs, incumbents

''Congressional incumbents are especially vulnerable, especially those who voted for the so-called stimulus bill, or the "cap-and-trade" bill or the notorious health -care bills. These bills blatantly ignore the constitutional limitation of congressional power and would go a long way toward fundamentally transforming the country into what would look like a socialist state.''

President Barack Obama told reporters that he rode the same wave of public anger into office that brought Scott Brown into Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. Not quite. The wave of public anger that elected Scott Brown is focused on Obama and the congressional Democrats who are pushing his policies.
The public anger is
more than justified. Both the president and Congress have turned a deaf ear to the expressed will of the people throughout the first year of the new administration. Even after the candidates Obama endorsed and campaigned for in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts all lost convincingly, Democrat strategists are advising the leadership to "show character" by fighting even harder to impose government-controlled health care.
They would, were it not for the inconvenient fact that every representative and 33 senators must face the "angry public" at the polls this year.

Ten-foot 'poll'

America: A House Divided

After all the lies that Obama and his cronies have told the American people, after shredding the Constitution, thumbing his nose at those who oppose his agenda, and calling freedom-loving tea partiers domestic terrorists, how can 47 percent of the American people still believe and support this usurper and his agenda!
When 47 percent of the American people have no problem with supporting a president who believes in infanticide, abortion at any trimester, gay marriage, lying, deceiving, and distorting facts about Obamacare, who surrounds himself with Marxist czars hell-bent on destroying our nation, who grants terrorists Miranda rights, and the list could go on and on, we are in serious trouble as a nation.
Mark 3:25 says, "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand."
Unless America stops ignoring and disobeying the precepts of God, turns to Him in repentance and stops supporting those who oppose all that the Bible stands for, we are going to continue experiencing the wrath and anger of a holy and sovereign God.
It is repent or perish time America. Which is it going to be? Are we going to believe in a man who is a habitual liar, or are we going to believe a God that never lies? We cannot continue on the path we are on. If we do, it will be at our own peril.

Wide Left Turn: Islamophobes in Congress

''Islamophobes in Congress like Joe Lieberman are trying to set the U.S. on a path to establish a different set of legal standards for Muslims.''
Roughly one month after the massacre at Fort Hood and a little over a week after Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (the "underwear bomber") tried to blow himself up over the city of Detroit, one of the most conservative Republicans in the Congress, South Carolina Representative Gresham Barrett, re-introduced a sweeping piece of legislation that he first rolled out in 2003 as a freshman on Capitol Hill.
The Stop Terrorists Entry Program (STEP) Act was originally introduced on September 11 (naturally), 2003 "to bar the admission of aliens from countries determined to be state sponsors of terrorism, and for other purposes." At the time, these countries included Iran, Libya, Syria, North Korea, Iraq and Cuba. The bill not only sought to bar presumed enemies of the state from entering the U.S., it also would have forced "nonimmigrant aliens" -- visitors with a temporary visa -- to leave the country, within 60 days of its passage. In other words, they would be deported.

Left Turn: Bring democracy to the Senate

Today Republicans demand a filibuster,
or "super-majority" on every single Senate vote.

''What we have in the Senate today is nothing less than minority rule, where 41 votes outnumber 59. And here's the worst part: spineless Democrats have just rolled over and let Republicans get away with it. Imagine what would happen if Republicans were in the majority and Democrats tried the same thing.''

Among other priorities in his State of the Union address, President Obama vowed to change the way Washington works.
Here's one good place to start: get rid of the filibuster. It's undemocratic, and it invites gross, mindless partisanship – especially the way it's employed by today's Senate Republicans to block any legislation or nomination coming out of the White
House. As Obama admonished them in the State of the Union, "Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it's not leadership."
Until recent years, the filibuster was the exception, not the rule, designed to allow any senator to stop a vote on pending legislation by debating it as long as he wanted. There were only two conditions. The objecting senator had to continue speaking from the podium, without interruption, for the duration of the filibuster – or until 67 senators rose up to stop it: a move called "cloture." And the Senate could conduct no other
business while the filibuster was under way.
That led to colorful moments in history. In 1953, Oregon's longwinded Wayne Morse filibustered Tidelands Oil legislation for 22 hours and 26 minutes. But four years later, Strom Thurmond, then still a Democrat from South Carolina, set a new record, which stands to this day, arguing against the Civil Rights Act for 24 hours and 18 minutes – until, presumably, his
bladder gave out.
New rules made the filibuster easier to use, but more open to abuse. In the '60s, Sen. Robert Byrd introduced what might be called a "stealth filibuster," allowing the Senate to conduct other business while the bill subject to a filibuster was placed on hold, thereby freeing senators from the challenge of speaking 24 hours nonstop. Accordingly, Joe Lieberman didn't have to do anything, not even speak for five minutes, to kill expansion of
Medicare in health care reform legislation. He just had to "threaten" to filibuster it. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123451

The Union State of Obama's Brain(and moral values)

''Another lie Obama smoothly threw out was about the White House and Congress doing their work openly as the people deserve. What a bunch of bull rot! Obama promised if you remember that the health care negotiations for health care legislation would be aired openly on C-SPAN, so the folks could see what was going on and how it affected them. WRONG. Instead, most has been done behind closed doors.''

Was there any group not insulted and scolded by Obama at his State of the Union speech? He tore into the Supreme court, shredding their controversial and recent ruling allowing corporations to advertise up through an election. Obama went off saying this would lead to international controls and purchases of elections, which simply wasn’t true as was reflected in Judge Alito’s negative shaking of his head. On the record though, it was a dumb decision by the Supreme court. I am more concerned about big corporations worth billions aligning with liberals and doing tons of advertising to help their agenda.
As usual, Obama blamed George Bush again and his policies for much of the economic and banking hardships we are enduring today. That is most fascinating since “Mr. Freeze the budget for 3 years Obama” has signed every stimulus and absurdly huge spending bill sent to him. He has also waited in impatient frenzy for the nearly trillion dollar health bill to sign. The messiah’s pen and ink are ready also for the economy leveling cap and trade bill to roll in. It is rather magical I think, after a year of spending hundreds of billions on banks and cronies that have not helped the economy at all, that Bush has still caused all this. Wow! What power he has just by existing.
At least we know from Obama’s speech that he brought 2 million jobs into place. Of course, every economist and statistician I have talked to on air says the stats don’t exist and this statement in most part is a fabrication.

Only in America: "Gang Tour"

Rabbi Shifren is a southern California native. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Spanish and German literature. He has been a language teacher in LA City schools since 1992. He is also fluent in Hebrew.

A Los Angeles tour company is offering a "Gang Tour" (http://www.lagangtours.com) You just can't make this stuff up. Can you imagine the tour guide telling about the gang lifestyle? It might go like this...."And here we have the drama and tragedy of South Central, vividly brought to you by LA Gang Tours--notice this historic intersection, Florence and Normandy, site of the famous Reginald Denny incident, where the White truck driver was beaten to an inch of his life."
"Over there, notice the same spot where Rodney King was beaten by White, racist Simi Valley cops--evoking the 1991 riots."Only in America! White suburbanites, bored with TV reruns and hyped up with a jaded sense of self-importance, mixed with a quixotic measure of "hope and change," would pay some scamming gang punks $65 to "tour" the hood and gawk at a segment of humanity that has been forgotten by the world. When did we become so insane as to pay modern-day marauders, rapists of our women, assailants of our liberty, and those trashers of all that is good in our society? How have we come to legitimize the felons and violent destroyers of our neighborhoods, gracing them with a status conveyed upon hard-working, civic-minded citizens? The story in the LA Times reads like some Kafkaesque visage, where the elites have the once-in-lifetime opportunity to hob-nob with those faceless killers and defacers of our landscape. Of course, once the bus "tour" pulls to a stop at a corner plagued by graffiti, the bereft passengers have concluded that only an "insensitive" society could have wrought such social mayhem. One passenger from Germany points out the "class" warfare angle, and guilt is heaped upon more guilt.

The left couldn't care less about the truth

''The left are the most intolerant, mean-spirited, unfair vermin that one could ever associate with. Their whole philosophy is based on lies, and the perpetuation of those lies, no matter what the evidence shows.''
Viewpoint discrimination is the club that the intolerant-ones wield. If they don’t agree with your position they simply prevent it from being presented. The idea of “informed debate” is something that is anathema to them. Not only won’t they allow “the other side” to be presented, they deny there is another side. Their ideas win the day because they only allow their ideas on the field.
The whole
Tim Tebow situation is the latest demonstration of the hypocrisy of the left. Always remember this; in the mind of the leftists words mean the opposite of what we think they mean. Tim Tebow’s mother suggests women should “choose life” but the bloody thirsty “pro-choice” crowd thinks that is the wrong “choice.” And how do they respond? Do they try and present facts as to why abortion is the “best choice?” Why no; they just don’t think Tim and his Mom should be able to present their “choice” as an option for women. In their polluted mind to be anti-choice is to be anti-woman.
Perhaps I missed something, but I think Tim Tebow’s Mom is a woman…
Abortion is the only choice for women. Any other “choice” is “bigoted” and “intolerant.” But which side is intolerant? Are the Tebow’s trying to prevent “pro-abortion” information from being shown? Of course not. Like all defenders of truth they are more than willing to allow the other side the opportunity to join the debate. But the left doesn’t want to debate. They simply think other viewpoints should be censored.
And it is not just with the abortion crowd. Look at education. The left, which has a death grip on education policy, has elevated “viewpoint discrimination” to a new level. Ponder these examples and ask yourself why we allow this bilge to go unchallenged.

No Captain on the bridge, America adrift

Setting our Ship of State aright starts with We the People returning to the basic, moral laws of right and wrong. Whether it is business, religion, or politics, right is right and wrong is wrong!

''Morality demands honesty and equity in judgment. Morality is selfless. Morality is humble. Morality is jealous over truth and justice. Morality would never jeopardize the future on the altar of the present. Morality does not place personal advancement above principle. Morality respects its heritage and honors its ancestors. And Morality gladly submits to lawful authority, especially divine authority.''

In Patrick Henry's immortal "Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death" speech, he said, "[I]t is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth." Never have Henry's words been truer than they are today. For too long, good men have turned a blind eye to the obvious reality that America's Ship of State has swerved significantly off course. In fact, it is no hyperbole to say that America's Ship of State is completely rudderless and, absent a speedy course correction, seems destined to crash against the rocks of oppression and economic ruin in the very near future. For anyone willing to open their eyes, the manifestations of America's almost-certain collision with history are everywhere.
America's Liberty Ship is dependent upon the twin mainsails of Morality and Constitutional Government to stay on course. It is an irrefutable and irreversible law that these twin sails are indissolubly linked. We cannot have one without the other. America's founders clearly understood this.
For example, our second President, John Adams, said, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Baby Isaiah and the nature of unalienable right

''By avoiding government control (even when it's intended to be helpful) officials will be given less occasion to violate individual natural rights, and individuals will not be encouraged to develop a false sense of entitlement that ignores the sovereign liberty of the people as a whole.''
The headline is arresting. Baby Isaiah given 3 days to live by government. Baby Isaiah's parents want the Canadian government to continue their child on life support. If the government withdraws life support, does this violate the child's unalienable right to life?
Unalienable rights have to do with inherent natural obligations which human beings, as they come from the hand of God, are obliged to respect. What people should do with the work of human hands, e.g., with
technologies that improve upon their natural capacities, may involve issues of conscience. But not all such issues have to do respect for with unalienable rights. The requirements of conscience go beyond the minimal requirements of the natural law to encompass those that arise from the law of love. As Christ made clear, (Matthew 5: 40-41) there's a difference between doing what the law requires and going the extra mile simply because that's the kind of help you'd want someone to give you if you were in need of it.
The parents in this case have a natural obligation to do all that they can to preserve the
life of their child. Others are obliged to respect actions they take pursuant to this obligation so long as they do not otherwise violate the natural law which is the basis of such obligations. They may not, for example, kill someone else's child to save theirs. But if someone else's child is drowning, and they know how to swim, they will rightly feel obliged by the rule of conscience (do unto others as you would have others do unto you) to use their acquired skill to save the child. But their liberty, which is an unalienable right, means that they may refrain from helping if, in their own judgment, doing so would forfeit their own lives (leaving their own children without care) or otherwise interfere with the fulfillment of their own natural obligations.
What applies to the use of humanly acquired capacities logically also applies to the use of any medium of exchange that represents their value. Individuals may not, therefore, be compelled to use their money in ways that, in their own judgment, will endanger their lives or otherwise interfere with the fulfillment of their own natural obligations. Logically, what they are not obliged to do as individuals, they are not obliged to do when they act in community with other individuals endowed with the same unalienable right to liberty.

Capitalism to the rescue in Haiti!

In the midst of all the news stories about Haiti, I am concerned that the most important point is being lost on a compassionate public: Poverty is the real problem and government is the real cause of poverty.

''In simpler terms, Haiti's rulers – euphemistically referred to as "presidents" in more recent times – have oppressed the majority of Haitian citizens (most of whom are descendants of African slaves) and lived opulently off of their labor. The result has been unimaginable poverty for the average Haitian; a government-induced poverty so overwhelming that it made it impossible for Haiti to withstand any kind of major natural disaster.''

Major earthquakes near heavily populated areas always produce destruction and mass casualties, but I've never seen anything quite like the carnage and suffering that Haiti has been experiencing. As I watch the aftermath of this tragedy, a number of thoughts go through my mind.
First is the question, "Why?" Why is the fallout from this earthquake so much more horrific than that seen in natural disasters in, say, the United States? How can such a cataclysm happen in the Western Hemisphere in the 21st century?
You can't attribute it to the magnitude of the earthquake, which, though considerable, could have been much worse. Nor is the problem that Haiti is an island, separated from its nearest neighbors – with the exception of the Dominican Republic – by hundreds, or even thousands, of miles of ocean.
No, the real reason that the earthquake in Haiti has created such a nightmare of death and destruction is because it is such an impoverished country. And the reason it's an impoverished country is the same reason that any country is poor: tyrannical government.

Obama's speech vs. reality

''Then there was his bizarre out-of-body pivot, when he blamed Washington for our problems. All of this, especially Obama's obvious incapacity for self-doubt, is disturbingly surreal.''

Watching President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech makes me wonder whether the reason he tells so many fibs is that he believes them himself. Either that or he is an even better actor than he is a teleprompter reader.
Obama not only wasn't contrite about his broken promises and disastrous record; he was on the attack, daring anyone to oppose his agenda – even in the face of the Massachusetts rebuke. But let's see how some of his statements match up with reality.
On health care, he taunted congressmen to "let me know" if any of them have "a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medicare for seniors and stop
insurance company abuses," as if his own plan would do those things.
Even the Congressional Budget Office has said most of the Democratic plans would increase the
budget. Besides, you can't reduce overall costs when government forces an increase in demand, even if it caps insurance premiums and shifts costs elsewhere and/or imposes rationing. The CBO has also reported that with Obamacare, millions would remain uninsured. So under his plan, costs would rise, quality and choice would decrease, care would be rationed, millions would remain uninsured and, worst of all, the government would acquire an unprecedented level of control over all aspects of our lives.
Do conservatives have better ideas? Of course. Restore
market forces through tort reform, strengthening health savings accounts, abolishing government coverage mandates, allowing consumers to purchase policies across state lines and eliminating the tax laws incentivizing employer-provided health care, which unnecessarily increase demand by making prices invisible to consumers. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=123426

Geithner must go

Geithner was constantly claiming his actions as the newly appointed treasury secretary were all targeted to protect the American people. Yet every question asked and slightly answered indicated Goldman Sachs was protected, not the American people. Of course one can hardly question why. Paulson and most of Geithner's team were alumni from Goldman. They were protecting their pensions and stock portfolios, not America.

''The lack of fully answered questions and the abundance of arrogant, angry and condescending behavior from Geithner was appalling. He acted as if the U.S. Congress had no right to ask him such questions. How dare they challenge his genius in getting us past the "worst crisis since the Great Depression." He basically said, I saved your ass and this is how you treat me?'' This week a new era of bipartisan politics was ushered in during the congressional hearings addressing the AIG bailout. Treasury Sec. Timothy Geithner failed with both Democrats and Republicans to pass any reasonable stink test. In fact one of his own, Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (D-Mass.), said with an edge in his voice, "It just stinks to high heaven what happened here."
I watched the hearings for several hours. Little belief was to be found among the members that Mr. Geithner or Paulson did anything other than panic during the potential meltdown that occurred in Sept. of 2008. Regardless of how many times Geithner demanded Congress acknowledge his brilliance in saving the world, nobody was buying it.
Good grief! So much for voters telling
Obama to slow down and move toward the center.

Obama eligibility propaganda continues

''Even most of the Obama critics have eschewed questions about Obama's constitutional eligibility to serve as president. Often to make themselves seem more mainstream and in an effort to be more widely accepted, they have chosen to ridicule the idea that any serious questions about Obama's birthplace and his parentage remain. Of course, that's just not true.''

When a scientific poll of Californians asked whether Barack Obama was born in the United States, fully one-third of respondents said either no or that they didn't know. How did the press play that story?
The Sacramento Bee, Obama boosters to the core,
reported that Californians are pretty sure he was born in the U.S.
If the poll is accurate, it suggests some 11.5 million residents of the most populous and liberal state in the union still don't know whether Obama is even eligible to be president.
Yet, for the Sacramento Bee, the capital voice of the state, the fact that two-thirds of the population thinks he was born in the United States represents something of a mandate.
The fact that there are such widespread doubts about Obama's eligibility one year into his
administration is something of a scandal, evidence of a total breakdown in our electoral system and proof that many, even in the friendly environs of California, suspect the man occupying the White House is hiding something by not releasing his long-form birth certificate.
Let the world know you stand with the Constitution and transparency. Display the "Where's the Birth Certificate?" magnetic bumper sticker.
The headline on the Bee story reads: "Tea-party allies include Obama birth site skeptics." A more accurate headline might be, "Democrats include Obama birth site skeptics," as fully 15 percent of those registered to the president's own party report he they total disbelief that Obama was born in the United States or are not sure.
Of course, the Bee goes on to explain, "More than a dozen unsuccessful lawsuits have been filed challenging Obama's assertion -- backed by a birth certificate and other evidence -- that he was born in Hawaii.
Birth certificate?...What birth certificate?
