November will be a “big f—ing deal.”

The first example of a pyrrhic victory in American history was at the Battle of Bunker Hill. On June 17, 1775, the British army occupying Boston attacked colonial forces that had fortified a position on Breed’s Hill in front of Bunker Hill. It would take the British three assaults to drive the colonists off the hill. Most colonial casualties came when they ran out of ammunition and retreated over Bunker Hill. British casualties were enormous, 800 wounded and 226 dead, and casualties among the officers were disproportionately high. British General Clinton echoed Pyrrhus in his diary, “ A few more such victories would have shortly put an end to British dominion in America.”
Last Sunday the leftist Democrats running the country finally pushed through a victory on “health care reform”. They bent the rules of both the House and the Senate, toyed with the idea of shredding the Constitution, made every back-room deal and threat and promise it was possible to make to get it done. The bill is unconstitutional, a pack of lies in its promises, and they did so over the staunch and outraged cries of the American people. Though they won a victory, it will be but a pyrrhic victory.

Finally, somebody is expressing some of what I am seeing. In his Saturday column, Ellis Washington writes,
I blame Bush for Stalincare. The Republicans are as much to blame as the Democrats; the only difference is we expect this behavior from Democrats.
If we do not quit electing RINOs as the lesser of two evils, things will only get worse. Now that the grass roots of the United States are finally stirred up, we need to back only conservative candidates. A good example is my Texas governor, Rick Perry. Being an excellent politician, he has governed whichever way the political wind has blown him (admittedly, Sen. Hutchinson was a far worse choice). Instead of backing this career politician, conservatives should back a truly conservative third-party candidate, possibly the Constitution Party's David Kirkland. Whoever it is must be a true conservative.
I would rather vote conservative and lose (even to a socialist … er, I mean Democrat) than to vote for another RINO. I did that for Bush 41 and 43, both northeast liberal carpetbaggers who came to Texas to get their "conservative" credentials.
Conservatives who are Constitutionalists are our only hope to regain the republic of United States of America.

Our physical capacity to absorb new arrivals eroded. Immigration became a zero sum game: the gains accruing to immigrants were more than offset by losses suffered by natives.”

Persistence, the willingness to take repeated chances, pays off for personal achievement. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in romantic relationships — as we eventually learn through disappointment and financial ruin. Yet, most folks ignore these painful lessons, continuing to grant second chances to those who hurt and wrong them. Is this altruism run amok?
You’ve heard friends admit that, on their wedding days, at the altars, they knowingly entered bad marriages — under the guise of second chances. My coaching clients give these typical reasons for having done so: guilt from exhaustive planning and vast spending; fear of hurting gift-bearing guests; and dread of demeaning their parents, their betrothed, and themselves. They felt irreversibly committed to ill-matched, transgression-committing future ex-spouses.
On February 19, 2010, Tiger Woods delivered an awkward mea culpa, on global TV, taking full responsibility for cheating on his wife Elin Nordegren. According to widely published reports, she was planning to divorce him — and collect $500M. But, after Tiger entered “rehab” and evinced contrition to the masses, Elin granted him a second chance. Now, her friends are blabbing to the media, these two are living under the same roof but on opposite sides of the house. Following the Obama Health Care vote on Sunday, March 21, 2010, on Monday morning miscellaneous conservative media outlets used different terms to describe what happened.
Laura Ingraham played a song about “the end is coming soon.” Our local conservative radio host, Bill Post on KYKN in Salem mentioned the “end of the world.” The March 22nd European Union Times says the world mourns as communist darkness falls upon America.

Will pride be America’s downfall? Thomas Paine (1737-1809), one of America's great founding patriots, wrote this on December 23, 1776, when the American Revolution was less than six months old. Substitute Democrats for Tories, Obama for King George III, Pelosi for Howe, Reid for Gage - Sarah Palin for the "Jersey maid" - and he is speaking to us today.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.'Tis surprising to see how rapidly a panic will sometimes run through a country. All nations and ages have been subject to them. Britain has trembled like an ague at the report of a French fleet of flat-bottomed boats; and in the fifteenth century the whole English army, after ravaging the kingdom of France, was driven back like men petrified with fear; and this brave exploit was performed by a few broken forces collected and headed by a woman, Joan of Arc. Would that heaven might inspire some Jersey maid to spirit up her countrymen, and save her fair fellow sufferers from ravage and ravishment! Yet panics, in some cases, have their uses; they produce as much good as hurt. Their duration is always short; the mind soon grows through them, and acquires a firmer habit than before. But their peculiar advantage is, that they are the touchstones of sincerity and hypocrisy, and bring things and men to light, which might otherwise have lain forever undiscovered. In fact, they have the same effect on secret traitors, which an imaginary apparition would have upon a private murderer. They sift out the hidden thoughts of man, and hold them up in public to the world. Many a disguised Tory has lately shown his head, that shall penitentially solemnize with curses the day on which Howe arrived upon the Delaware.Voltaire has remarked that King William[1] never appeared to full advantage but in difficulties and in action; the same remark may be made on General Washington, for the character fits him. There is a natural firmness in some minds which cannot be unlocked by trifles, but which, when unlocked, discovers a cabinet of fortitude; and I reckon it among those kind of public blessings, which we do not immediately see, that God hath blessed him with uninterrupted health, and given him a mind that can even flourish upon care.I shall conclude this paper with some miscellaneous remarks on the state of our affairs; and shall begin with asking the following question, Why is it that the enemy have left the New England provinces, and made these middle ones the seat of war? The answer is easy: New England is not infested with Tories, and we are. I have been tender in raising the cry against these men, and used numberless arguments to show them their danger, but it will not do to sacrifice a world either to their folly or their baseness. The period is now arrived, in which either they or we must change our sentiments, or one or both must fall. And what is a Tory? Good God! What is he? I should not be afraid to go with a hundred Whigs against a thousand Tories, were they to attempt to get into arms. Every Tory is a coward; for servile, slavish, self-interested fear is the foundation of Toryism; and a man under such influence, though he may be cruel, never can be brave.I once felt all that kind of anger, which a man ought to feel, against the mean principles that are held by the Tories: a noted one, who kept a tavern at Amboy, was standing at his door, with as pretty a child in his hand, about eight or nine years old, as I ever saw, and after speaking his mind as freely as he thought was prudent, finished with this unfatherly expression, "Well! give me peace in my day." Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally take place, and a generous parent should have said, "If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace;" and this single reflection, well applied, is sufficient to awaken every man to duty. Not a place upon earth might be so happy as America. Her situation is remote from all the wrangling world, and she has nothing to do but to trade with them. A man can distinguish himself between temper and principle, and I am as confident, as I am that God governs the world, that America will never be happy till she gets clear of foreign dominion. Wars, without ceasing, will break out till that period arrives, and the continent must in the end be conqueror; for though the flame of liberty may sometimes cease to shine, the coal can never expire.I call not upon a few, but upon all: not on this state or that state, but on every state: up and help us; lay your shoulders to the wheel; better have too much force than too little, when so great an object is at stake. Let it be told to the future world, that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet and to repulse it. Say not that thousands are gone, turn out your tens of thousands; throw not the burden of the day upon Providence, but "show your faith by your works," that God may bless you. It matters not where you live, or what rank of life you hold, the evil or the blessing will reach you all. The far and the near, the home counties and the back, the rich and the poor, will suffer or rejoice alike. The heart that feels not now is dead; the blood of his children will curse his cowardice, who shrinks back at a time when a little might have saved the whole, and made them happy. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death. My own line of reasoning is to myself as straight and clear as a ray of light. Not all the treasures of the world, so far as I believe, could have induced me to support an offensive war, for I think it murder; but if a thief breaks into my house, burns and destroys my property, and kills or threatens to kill me, or those that are in it, and to "bind me in all cases whatsoever" to his absolute will, am I to suffer it? What signifies it to me, whether he who does it is a king or a common man; my countryman or not my countryman; whether it be done by an individual villain, or an army of them? If we reason to the root of things we shall find no difference; neither can any just cause be assigned why we should punish in the one case and pardon in the other. Let them call me rebel and welcome, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of devils, were I to make a whore of my soul by swearing allegiance to one whose character is that of a sottish, stupid, stubborn, worthless, brutish man[2]. I conceive likewise a horrid idea in receiving mercy from a being, who at the last day shall be shrieking to the rocks and mountains to cover him, and fleeing with terror from the orphan, the widow, and the slain of America.There are cases which cannot be overdone by language, and this is one. There are persons, too, who see not the full extent of the evil which threatens them; they solace themselves with hopes that the enemy, if he succeed, will be merciful. It is the madness of folly, to expect mercy from those who have refused to do justice; and even mercy, where conquest is the object, is only a trick of war; the cunning of the fox is as murderous as the violence of the wolf, and we ought to guard equally against both. Howe's first object is, partly by threats and partly by promises, to terrify or seduce the people to deliver up their arms and receive mercy. ''The Monday after Congress passed historic health care legislation was a dark day for the right wing. Wouldn’t you be upset if you were doomed to live in a communist dystopia? Is there even a point in living once Nancy Pelosi kills every baby in America and your grandmother?''

1. Last week, Rush Limbaugh swore he would move to Costa Rica if health reform passed. Instead, he heroically decided to stay behind and fight for freedom, by telling his listeners they're in a death match with Hitler. “America is hanging by a thread. So we have to see what we can do with a thread. At the end of the day, our freedom has been assaulted. This is the kind of change that people did not think they were going to get when they voted for Barack Obama. Freedom must win the day."
Limbaugh goes on to slam Rep. Bart Stupak, whose decision to vote yes
on the bill after squeezing an anti-abortion executive order from Obama helped Dems clinch the needed votes. "Stupak is no different than Neville Chamberlain, who came back with that little letter from Hitler: 'Oh, yeah, Hitler says no war between his country and ours.'"
Limbaugh followed up his outrageously offensive (but by this point run-of-the-mill) comparison of Obama to Hitler by mourning our democracy. It no longer exists, Limbaugh concluded, identifying the cause of its demise: our democratically elected Congress and president, of course. "They won because they held Congress and the presidency, and therein lies the lesson: We need to defeat these bastards. We need to wipe them out. We need to chase them out of town."
History is sure to smile on his selfless stand.
2. Glenn Beck, who warns that we're on the cusp of a socialist/fascist takeover on a daily basis, had to reach to do justice to the drama of the occasion.
He didn't disappoint, wielding his vast historical knowledge to (unfavorably) compare the vote to the Gettysburg Address, Iwo Jima and the moon landing, Civil Rights and the heroism of the 9/11 first responders, before landing on a more appropriate set of analogies: the attack on Pearl Harbor; the St. Valentines massacre ("when the mob stepped in and cleaned things up!"); Chamberlain's meeting with Hitler; AND THE HINDENBURG!!!! During a Democratic primary debate on Jan. 31, 2008, Barack Obama promised how he would act to bring about health-care reform:
"That's what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are."
Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised that this Democratic Congress would be: "The most honest, the most open and the most ethical Congress in history."
As Americans are perplexed at the total disregard for these promises, it may be insightful to read from a popular political handbook, titled "The Prince" (1515), written by Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527):

A wise ruler ought never to keep faith when by doing so it would be against his interests.
The promise given was a necessity of the past: the word broken is a necessity of the present.

To Progressives, dissent equals hate

''Look beyond the hypocrisy and the lies of the "progressives" and you will see a simple truth. To "hate" a socialist, all you must do is disagree with him. To argue with him is to "threaten" him. To the leftist, dissent is an act of violence. He sees every opposing opinion as a brick through his window.''

"In case anyone thought this was about [health-care reform]," sneered a popular progressive novelist on his Twitter page. He was "retweeting" – sending again to his own followers on this popular social networking site – the assertion that tea-party protesters (speaking out against the inexorable, impending doom that is Obama's nationalizing of a breathtaking percentage of the American economy) had shouted racist and sexual epithets at lawmakers.
The implication is, of course, that the protests weren't against socialized medicine and government power-grabs at all. No, according to the hand-wringing, wide-eyed, incredulous progressives, standing on the sidelines with their bottom lips trembling, the protests were an orgy of racist hatred, a tsunami of barely contained rage washing over the poor, innocent masses working earnestly toward a re-imagination of government second only to the civil-rights movement itself. Why, what manner of blackguard, what kind of monster, could possibly oppose free health care for all? Such a person must surely be motivated by a desire to choke the breath from those he irrationally despises, if only from the sheer meanness that popular culture teaches us motivates the shriveled hearts of Republicans, conservatives and libertarians. Why, these naysayers would have the less fortunate lying dead and dying in the streets if they had their way – even as these same villains struggle to shunt the black ichor they call blood through bodies shrunken and desiccated by miserly pettiness and greed.

Far worse than the
technology of libel is the technology of marginalization. It is a latter-day scarlet letter designed to make dissenters unpersons. Because it is a function of emotion, this brand is immune to reason. Because it is unsubstantiated, it cannot be refuted. Because it is invective hurled at the whim of the "victim," it is a rhetorical ploy that becomes "real" only insofar as it is believed. In our media-driven, multimedia-saturated, technologically drenched culture, it is believed because it is repeated, ad nauseam and without critical analysis, by legions of pop-culture drones who lean left only because they lack the intelligence, the willpower or the independence of thought to examine their beliefs against even the flimsiest of logical standards.

The scarlet letter of which I speak is the branding of all dissent, all opposition to Barack Hussein Obama and his progressives, as racism or, worse, as the raving of violent killers who must be stopped before they hurt someone. These are classic techniques of marginalization – the redefining of one's political enemies as something less than legitimate. If the progressives, if the liberals, if the leftists, if the socialists succeed in painting their ideological opponents as irrational, the reasoned arguments (not to mention the points of constitutional law) brought up by conservatives and libertarians need not even be considered. They can be dismissed outright – and if the socialists further succeed in redefining their enemies as violent criminals, all opposition to Barack Hussein Obama can be effectively silenced as illegal and as a danger to the public.

I thought after the duplicity, stupidity and immorality of the Vietnam War that killed 53,200 Americans and several million Vietnamese, and poisoned their country with Agent Orange and bombs, we would never again engage in such madness. Nonetheless, the “Great Silent Majority” stood by to watch their kids die—for nothing! History proved that!
Yet, it’s beyond my logical understanding at how stupid our leaders, former President Bush, and now, Barack Obama—prove themselves. Bush attacked with no idea of what he perpetrated on an entire society. He created 2.5 million refugees. He destroyed their infrastructure. He killed hundreds of thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What does he have to show for it? Nothing but human misery for theirs and ours! Yet, he lives in a million dollar mansion in Dallas! He’s too stupid to understand what he wrought on humanity or too immoral.
Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize. The entire world wants us out of the Middle East and the Nobel must have given him a hint. But no, he added another 30,000 of our kids to go kill another 30,000 of their kids.
What will he have to show for it? In the end, more human misery and suffering on both sides!
In the current issue of Newsweek Magazine, “The gang that couldn’t shoot straight” by Miller, Hosenball and Moreau, readers gained an understanding of just how futile, hopeless and completely deranged we are as we meddle in another third world country’s business.

Prior to this week’s congressional action on health care, an action that pushed the United States off a cliff overhanging a communist sea, white house press secretary Robert Gibbs the man of a perpetual sneer was asked by a NBC correspondent if he would agree that the manner in which the Democrat congress was seeking to circumvent normal legislative procedures exacerbated the perception that their operation was a dirty and underhanded process. True to his nature Mr. Gibbs put on the sour pickle face that he effects when aggrieved by a less than friendly question and moved quickly on to another query to avoid having to respond to the question. Unfortunately for the press secretary the camera and the mike had already captured the fact that this young lady had encapsulated perfectly the dirty underhanded process of a dirty underhanded Democrat congress. Suck it up Gibbs the lady nailed it and you know it.
I’m glad this socialized medicine kick is behind us as the endless monotonous intoning by Nancy Pelosi - this vacuous stick woman of the unblinking eyes - that she and her comrades were delivering the American people from capitalistic villains was grating on my nerves. It was like the scratching of nails across a chalkboard every time the fawning liberal media networks featured her on their propaganda broadcasts. To compound the misery one had to contend daily with network - and local - broadcasts of the president parading jerkily about a stage like a marionette on strings spewing an interminable string of lies to worshipping Democrats. I found myself wishing that he would go back to the oval office and put his big feet upon the desk like the clod that he is and spare those who don’t worship him the agony of his televised appearances.

The Christian-leadership void is cavernous

Government is their god and you have got to hand it to them, they are not ashamed to fight for their beliefs. In the face of unprecedented opposition from those they have sworn an oath to serve, they pushed forward with what they told us they were going to do.
Like sheep led to the slaughter the Tea Party folks have trudged up the hill in villages and hamlets all around this nation begging their slave masters for relief from the tyranny of oppression masquerading as government in America.
Patrick Henry so aptly spoke 235 years ago this week “This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.”
The Christian-leadership void is cavernous. As we sat before our TV’s and watched government on the auction block being sold to the highest bidder, desperate mom’s and dad’s doubling as grandma’s and grandpa’s, took to the streets prophetically living out Proverbs 29:2 “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” The sense of frustration and the mourning of the sheep were palpable as government of, by, and for the people was perishing from the earth. Make no mistake about it, the sheep are about to be butchered.

As we were walking the halls we started hearing about the meeting for “girls only”, where no adults would be allowed. “Oh that can’t be good,” I said. Anytime I have ever been told I can’t be with my child, it sends up flags. I guess some parents couldn’t see the Girl Scouts as doing anything wrong and willingly gave their girls to them. GS Leaders are trying to deny having “handed out” the objectionable brochures. They, however, in the past have distributed things that many critics deemed as pornography.
It seems that enemies come in all forms. We think we know our enemies but it is getting harder to detect all the time. We buy cookies from them, we trust our precious little girls to them and even the trusted Girl Scouts have succumbed to social degradation. I dare say the founders of 1912 would be appalled.
The brochures this year stated, page 7: “Sex can feel great and can be really fun! Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. Sex can include kissing, touching, licking, tickling, sucking, and cuddling. Some people like to have aggressive sex, while others like to have soft and slow sex with their partners. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!.” There is no “parenthood planning” in this education. This is a process of investment as I see it. Teach a child at a young age to be obsessed with sex. Then they’ll become pregnant later while having sex freely. Finally they’ll have the abortions that are the cash cows for Planned Parenthood. This has been their strategy for many years. This is a well thought out plan. This is sex for profit! I recall that as being illegal in most states.

Since the beginning of organized government, kings, dictators, presidents, legislators and politicians of all stripes have used children as an excuse for advancing any number of their favorite big-ticket items that, under normal circumstances, wouldn't pass the smell test.
But, have you taken a closer look at whom this latest batch of unaccountable, weak-willed, Pelosi-whipped politicians are calling "children"? They are 25-year-olds!
Since when is a 25-year-old a child?
At 18, you can legally buy a gun, go to war, get married, vote, tell your parents to "go to hell" or, gasp, get a job.
At 16, you can work and drive a car.
Let's face it – at puberty, you can sneak around behind your parents backs and have an abortion.

Isn't it interesting that liberals commonly refer to young pregnant teens as "women" when they are fighting for their right to have access to birth control or kill their babies, but now these same liberals, who want to lower to voting age to 12, want us to treat 25-year-olds as children for the purpose of protecting them against evil insurance companies?
Have you googled the phrase "16-year-old woman" lately? Can we all now agree that this 16-year-old is still a young girl and in need of her parents' protection? I didn't think so.
The use of the world "children" in the debate to control heath care is disingenuous and outright nauseating.

Well, it was around 100 years ago that progressivism first infected the worldview of American politicians and that communism took hold in Russia.

Is this scenario difficult for you to grasp because you can't identify with why anyone would crave the degree of power those in our government covet? Is the same reason any tyrant would crave that degree of power not good enough an answer for you?
In case you're just tuning in: About 100 years ago, certain politicians decided that an America ruled, rather than governed, by an elite political class (versus the system of a representative republic then in place) looked rather attractive. They had been philosophically corrupted, of course; it probably hasn't escaped your notice that such individuals would be at the top of this class. The type of people who were beginning to gravitate toward political office (who otherwise had little to offer society) were enticed by this system in which guile and avarice was substituted for meaningful, constructive contribution. Those who had already become successful, believing their worldly station to be inviolate, were intrigued by the notion that they might rule on a parallel track with this new elite.

A 2-state solution – for America

All around the world we hear cries for a two-state solution to the crisis in the Middle East.
It's no secret that Muslims refuse to live in peace and harmony with their Jewish neighbors. Thus, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, most of the Democratic Party and, indeed, much of the rest of the world call for further dividing the nation of Israel to create a new "Palestinian" state – as kind of a reward for 50 years of terrorism and the self-destructive hatred instigated by Arab Muslims against the Jewish state.
It never made sense to me, a former correspondent in the region and a Christian of Arabic ancestry whose grandparents fled the Middle East because Muslims were equally inhospitable to them.
But this idea of a two-state solution is growing on me.
Not for the Middle East, mind you – but for the United States of America.
America has not been more divided and polarized by fundamentally conflicting worldviews since the War Between the States.
That's a fact.
