More Russia 'sleepers' walk U.S. streets

They posed as ordinary citizens, living daily, nondescript lives in communities from Arlington, Va., to Yonkers, N.Y. They were married couples with car payments, monthly rents, and telephone and medical bills. They bought computers, gave gifts and ate occasionally in restaurants. But there was more. (Snip) Andrew C. Kuchins, director and senior fellow at the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, told The Washington Times that sleeper networks of other Russian agents continue to operate in other areas of the United States, adding that the deep-cover activities of Russian intelligence operatives in this country have increased under Russian...

Al Gore: 'Spiritual' leftist grease bag

Al Gore didn't merely invent the Internet. He invented romance. At least that's how the mainstream media played his marriage to Tipper. When he Frenched her on national television in 2000, the journalistic crowd swooned. (Snip) Finally, Gore let loose with immortal phraseology, asking the masseuse to "release ... his second chakra there." For those who do not know, a "chakra" is a Sanskrit word for a force center, which exists on the "etheric" body of man. What does that mean? Nobody knows, but it allows leftist grease bags like Al Gore to sound spiritual when all they really want...

Clinton earns $65 million in speaking fees

Former president Bill Clinton stepped up the pace of his paid speaking engagements in 2009, bringing his total haul from these speeches to $65 million since leaving office in 2001. According to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's annual financial disclosure report released Monday, the former president earned $7.5 million from 36 paid speeches last year, up from the $5.7 million he earned for 25 speeches in 2008. Almost half of his speech earnings last year, $3.2 million, came from 13 speeches delivered in nine other countries...

Walking on on oily water

It’s one thing to say that Obama’s administration showed ineptitude and mismanagement in its handling of the Gulf oil spill. It is quite another to grasp the situation up close, as I did during a recent visit to Alabama. According to state disaster relief officials, Alabama conceived a plan — early on — to erect huge booms offshore to shield the approximately 200 miles of the state’s coastline from oil.

BLM Ranger Finch and Abuse of Power

Jackson County, Oregon - In our last issue (Volume 2 – Issue 1, located at www.usobserver.com) we reported on an incident of alleged “Abuse by an Officer” that happened on February 20, 2010, involving Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ranger William Finch, from the Medford, Oregon BLM Office, Jackson County Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Gylenskog and the Easley family. Our first article, which I prompt everyone to read, described in detail, the physical and mental abuse leveled at Michelle Easley and her family. We have since discovered that Ranger Finch is also deputized by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, to perform specific duties.
After the US~Observer published this story it created a firestorm of people all over America, contacting the Observer by phone, letters, and emails. The positive responses and support for the Easley family has been incredible and the separate accounts of abuse by Finch have inundated our office. Some who contacted us had questions, which I will address next, before I get into the meat of this article.

Medical Journals in Drug Company's Pocket

PLoS Medicine a peer review journal for the Public Library of Science claimed in an article that the most respected medical journals have become much too dependent on revenue from the pharmaceutical industry from two sources. First, advertising revenue which, according to PLoS, is the least corrupting form of revenue since the pharmaceutical industry should have the right to reach their potential customers in the periodicals their customers—doctors—read. What is the bigger problem, and what corrupts the integrity of the advertising process in about 25 different medical journals according to PLoS in an article published by the Public Library of Science five years ago (but never read by the general public which does not generally subscribe to it) is the second source of "advertising" revenue. The PR firms hired by the pharmaceutical giants pay fees to the journals to print well-edited capsulated synopsis of the drug trials.
The PR firms know that when the drug trials are published in any medical journal, the drug and the test tacitly carry that journal's stamp of approval simply by appearing in it. According to PLoS, a favorable review in a periodical like the Journal of American Medicine and the British Medical Journal and Lancet which have global distribution is worth thousands of pages of advertising. The PR companies will sometimes pay upwards of a million dollars for reprints of the articles to send to drug distributors, pharmaceutical wholesalers and medical professionals. While the PR firms admit the recipients of the reprints seldom read them, what they rely on is the name of the prestigious journal printing the review of giving a new drug credibility in the marketplace it has not earned from evidence of their curative abilities. The more important the medical journal, the more credibility the drug receives in the eyes of the physicians who receive the reprints.

Obama's Wonderland Is No Fairy Tale

As we continue to tumble down the road to economic ruin, security vulnerability, and reduced health care benefits, things become "curiouser and curiouser." While President Obama speedily demands that General McChrystal zoom home to be dismissed from his post, the frustrated Gulf residents still cannot get all the equipment and assistance that they need to hold back the oil that is wrecking their homes and their livelihoods. Thus, one wonders as Alice in Wonderland did, "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?" Original Article

Things You Should Never Buy New

If you're looking to get the most value for your dollar, it would do your wallet good to check out secondhand options. Many used goods still have plenty of life left in them even years after the original purchase, and they're usually resold at a fraction of the retail price, to boot. Here's a list of 21 things that make for a better deal when you buy them used.
1. DVDs and CDs: Used DVDs and CDs will play like new if they were well taken care of. Even if you wind up with a scratched disc and you don't want to bother with a return, there are ways to remove the scratches and make the DVD or CD playable again....21. Recreational Items: It's fairly easy to find high ticket recreational items like campers, boats, and jet skis being resold. Oftentimes, they're barely used at all. As long as they're in safe, working condition, they'll make for a better value when purchased used than new.

American Jews turn from Obama

Support for President Obama is waning among America’s Jewish population, polls indicate, a shift driven primarily by the president’s policies toward Israel. The London Telegraph reported this weekend that Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, described the state of U.S.-Israeli relations in bleak terms. While Oren since has asserted that he was misquoted and that his words were less incendiary than reported, even relatively disinterested observers can see that relations between the allies are strained. McLaughlin & Associates, a national polling company, recently released the “National Survey of Jewish Voters” which reported that while Jewish voters favored Obama

Will Congress Kill Volunteer Fire Departments?

Volunteer fire departments are about as American as apple pie. But under legislation moving quickly in Congress, this staple of American life could soon be a thing of the past. House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D.-S.C.) wants to include the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act as part of the war supplemental coming before the House this week. The bill forces state and local governments to collectively bargain with police, firefighters and emergency workers. Its critics say it would compel volunteer firefighters to join unions, threatening the survival of America's nearly 26,000 volunteer fire departments.

Ma'am, your friend is a liar

After being interviewed as a guest on two radio programs back-to-back, I was angry and frustrated. I had to endure radio talk show hosts and callers who have never attended a tea party, tell me how racist the rallies are. Not only will this false accusation of racism not go away, it appears to be growing stronger.
Angry callers said they saw racist signs on TV and shared stories from black friends who claimed to have experienced racism at tea parties. I told one caller, "Ma'am, with all do respect, your friend is a liar." I am a black man who has attended well over 200 tea parties across America traveling on three Tea Party Express tours. I know the tone of the rallies and the types of people who attend them.

Keep the 'Free Range' Internet

The Internet is abuzz with news that a US Senate committee has approved a bill that apparently gives the President authority to shut down the Internet. According to TechWorld.com, "A US Senate committee has approved a wide-ranging cybersecurity bill that some critics have suggested would give the US president the authority to shut down parts of the Internet during a cyberattack."
The report continues by saying, "The bill, introduced earlier this month [by Senators Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Thomas Carper, D-Delaware], would establish a White House Office for Cyberspace Policy and a National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications, which would work with private US companies to create cybersecurity requirements for the electric grid, telecommunications networks and other critical infrastructure."
See the report here.
A PrisonPlanet.com report says this about the bill: "President Obama will be handed the power to shut down the Internet for at least four months without Congressional oversight if the Senate votes for the infamous Internet 'kill switch' bill, which was approved by a key Senate committee yesterday [June 24] and now moves to the floor.

Socialism doesn’t work

As Hollywood director Oliver Stone releases his pro-Hugo Chavez film, “South of the Border,” the Socialist International (SI) reports that the oil-rich Venezuelan ruler is suppressing dissent, interfering with freedom of the press, mismanaging the economy, and threatening peace in the region.
The SI report includes a description of the Chavez regime as a “democradura”—a democratic dictatorship.
The SI is an international alliance of 170 left-of-center political parties and organizations that might be expected to defend the Chavez regime. But its report (PDF) confirms all of the charges that critics have been making about the would-be dictator. What’s more, it says that Chavez’s policies are hurting the very people he claims to represent—the poor—through schemes that are undermining economic growth and costing jobs.
In other words, Chavez is demonstrating, once again, that socialism doesn’t work.

Israel 'pre-loading' supplies in Saudi Arabia

...stocking up for Iran attack

Israel Air Force aircraft dropped off large quantities of military gear at a Saudi Arabian military base a week ago, in preparation for a potential attack on Iran, a number of Iranian and Israeli news outlets have reported. The unconfirmed report, first published by the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars and the Islam Times Web site, claimed that on June 18 and 19, Israeli helicopters unloaded military equipment and built a base just over 8 km. outside the northwestern city of Tabuk, the closest Saudi city to Israel, located just south of Jordan.

Defining O.D.D. and our times

There are a number of problems associated with redefining all undesirable forms of behavior as “disorders” to be cured. Among them is the unanticipated consequence of depriving man of his humanity. If a man is merely a victim of some disease then he cannot really be considered evil. If he has no potential to be evil, he has no potential to be good.
C.S. Lewis pointed out another unanticipated consequence of our rush to treat, rather than punish, people who do evil things. He noted that the same intellectuals who determine when an illness has set in will also determine when that illness has dissipated. And they have a powerful incentive to drag out the entire process. Who among us would not rather take our punishment and be done with it – as opposed to waiting in perpetuity for the official clearance of a doctor?

Disgust at Obama's genuine incompetence at this genuine ecological disaster stretches across party lines and the ideological spectrum. Barry blames Bush for everything about our dismal economy. Ready for a cyber-Pearl Harbor?

Somebody in the Pentagon had an idea. "Let's take down the Internet." In 1997, the Department of Defense led an exercise called Eligible Receiver. A team of cyber-experts was given three months to plan and execute an attack on unclassified computer systems using commonly available hardware and software. The red team came from a not-to-be-named shadowy agency -- but we know it was the National Security Agency. The cyber-Jedi claimed if they actually conducted an attack, they could have brought down defense command and control systems, as well as major portions of the national electric power grid, and 911 systems.

Robbing from the not yet born

President Obama recklessly spends us into oblivion and ultimately: collaspe. He’s eating more pie than he can swallow. Our children will be paying for his ‘upchuck’. But he’s not alone. He’s aided by both parties.
The American Federal debt exceeds $12 trillion. It’s SO out of control, it’s like a cancer that has metastasized to every corner of our pocket books. Each day we work at our jobs, our taxes pay over $600 million on interest to the Federal debt. In other words, we pay the rich to get richer and we become poorer. Much worse, we write checks that our children won’t be able to cash. We create a whirlwind of consequences for our country.
This year Obama and Congress passed another billion dollar package for Iraq and Afghanistan, but it’s not money in our bank, it’s money we borrowed. How does it serve us or our citizens when our leaders force us into bankruptcy?
http://www.newswithviews.com/Wooldridge/frosty578.htm
Far worse than that financial crisis, our consumer debt exceeds $2 trillion and the average credit card carries an $9,644.00 balance according to NBC Nightly News. But it doesn’t stop there. Foreign investors lend us $1.6 billion daily to float the American economy.

Death and the American health system

On July 26, 2000, the US medical community received a titanic shock to the system, when one of its most respected public-health experts, Dr. Barbara Starfield, revealed her findings on healthcare in America. Starfield was, and still is, associated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
The Starfield study, “Is US health really the best in the world?”, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to the following conclusions:
Every year in the US there are:
12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;
7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;
20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;
80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;
106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.
The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.
This makes the medical system the third leading cause of death in the US, behind heart disease and cancer.
The Starfield study is the most disturbing revelation about modern healthcare in America ever published.

The Importance of History, part II

So far we have concentrated on the least religious Founding Fathers. Let us look at some of the other Founding Fathers and see how they stood, religiously. John Witherspoon, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was an ordained minister wrote several books of sermons and was responsible for two editions of the American Bible. Charles Thompson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was the Secretary of Congress and was responsible for the Thompson Study Bible. John Hancock, Governor of Massachusetts, had made several proclamations for a day of prayer calling for the people to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. John Trumbull, Governor of Connecticut, also called for days of prayer and fasting and taking up a statewide collection for the Society of Missionaries for the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have looked at Benjamin Rush earlier but there are other things that he is well known for that we never hear from our new historians. He started 5 colleges and universities, the first college for women.

A liberal spy

A writer masquerading as a conservative who was supposed to be covering the conservative movement has quit his job under fire at the Washington Post. The writer, David Weigel, left after it came to light that he had made disparaging remarks about conservative personalities on a private email list of liberal journalists. The scandal involves The Washington Post, Reason magazine, and a network of “independent” on-line publications with funding from billionaire George Soros and multi-millionaire gay mogul Tim Gill.
In a major understatement, the Post ombudsman, or consumer advocate, says the scandal will affect the paper’s standing among conservatives. But the Post never had any standing among conservatives. This is why it is called the Compost.
Filled with profanity, emails from Weigel were leaked and publicized showing that he said Matt Drudge of Drudge Report fame ought to set himself on fire, ridiculed the first-rate reporting of Byron York of the Washington Examiner, called conservatives racist, suggested Tea Party members were stupid, and expressed the hope that Rush Limbaugh would die from heart problems.

Ta-ta Ta’a (Obedience to Islam)

By definition globalism is a collectivist one-world state that rejects the biblical worldview and ethic for enlightened group think distinguished by relative (as opposed to absolute) truth. Global citizens pledge allegiance to the world community, not to any specific nation-state.
In many respects, the Islamic Grand Design for world dominance fits the globalist model. Already, Islam is the world’s second largest religion after Christianity. While Pakistan is the only state explicitly established in the name of Islam, the Islamic impact on world culture is indisputable.
Its three-fold strategy of missions, presence, and force has left an indelible mark. Already, Muslims make up a majority in some seventy of 188 nations, and Islam has become the fastest growing religion in Europe.

Buzz Aldrin wants to colonize Mars

Even in the company of other astronauts, Buzz Aldrin is still the hippest guy in the room. At the 2010 Astronaut Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which took place earlier this month at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Buzz was the Jack Nicholson to NASA’s Oscars. He exuded an effortless cool just by smiling at the crowd, and all eyes were on him even when he wasn’t meant to be the center of attention. The ceremony’s host, Jon Cryer (because when you think of astronauts, you think of the guy who played “Duckie“), perfectly summed up the feelings of pretty much everybody in the audience. “From the moment I arrived,” he said, “it has been all that I can do to keep from saying, ‘So Buzz, when you were like on the Moon and stuff, was it awesome’?”Read More http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2010/06/buzz-aldrin-is-not-all-that-impressed-with-walking-on-the-moon.html#ixzz0rx2mqSYK

It's a big day for the porn industry.

On Friday, ICANN, the not-for-profit corporation that coordinates the internet's naming system, voted to allow the application of the controversial ".xxx" top-level domain name for sites that display adult content.
The domain, which would need further approval before going live on the internet, would be applied to adult entertainment sites just as ".com" is now.
The .xxx internet suffix, which was first proposed six years ago by ICM Registry, a group that sells domain names, "will provide a place online for adult entertainment providers and their service providers who want to be part of our voluntary self regulatory community," according to that company's news release.

The Big Barney Grab

Nearly two years after tremors on Wall Street set off a historic economic downturn, congressional leaders greenlighted a bill early Friday that would leave the financial industry largely intact but facing a more powerful network of regulators who could impose limits on risky activities....

One of the last motions Friday was to name the bill after the two chairmen, Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who had shepherded the legislation through the House over the past year. At 5:07 a.m., they agreed unanimously that it would be known as the Dodd-Frank bill, and the sound of applause echoed down the empty hallways.

Stronger than a fools will

Stymied by political opposition and focused on competing priorities, the Obama administration has sidelined efforts to close the Guantánamo prison, making it unlikely that President Obama will fulfill his promise to close it before his term ends in 2013. When the White House acknowledged last year that it would miss Mr. Obama’s initial January 2010 deadline for shutting the prison, it also declared that the detainees would eventually be moved to one in Illinois. But impediments to that plan have mounted in Congress, and the administration is doing little to overcome them.

Why the News Pisses Us Off

Why the News Makes You Angry

Some time ago, a general manager of the Associated Press, the massive news collective, opined on the importance of "objectivity" in reporting, calling it the Holy Grail of journalism. He's right, but only in the sense that objectivity is the source and substance of a massive mythology. In fact, there is no such thing as objective reporting. Unfortunately, that has never stopped those who engage in journalism from claiming not only that it exists, but that they practice it. Objectivity, in the journalistic definition, is a bare-boned restatement of facts, e.g., he said this, she said that.

Solar system reeks of rotten eggs

One imagines our solar system a rough, wild place filled with endless silences, unimaginable darkness, and strange glimpses of lights from the Milky Way. But smelly? Not so much. However, recent evidence shows that the solar system can reek of rotten eggs – especially if you’re traveling around the surface of Jupiter’s moon, lo.

WE let the rats in...

Most people accept the premise that a majority of Americans are conservative, or at least to the right of center. So why do our government, and many aspects of our culture, lean so far to the left? The simple answer is we let it. In truth, most Americans are either too busy, distracted, trusting or just too ignorant to get involved. Our world moves by at an increasingly rapid pace. While our technology demands instantaneous response it overwhelms us with information, sights and sounds.

Had enough America?

The government of the United States in this crises, cannot find its ass with both hands and a Chinese made, Wal-Mart sold, genuine, guaranteed, remote controlled, ass-finder. Obama makes Bush look like General George S. Patton, and that is going some for me. The Bush family is the incarnation of the world cabal and joins Bill Clinton, Jimmy “clueless” Carter, and all of the other 20th century complicit “Illuminati” approved presidents that brought us to the last generation of “freedom” bearing citizens that will ever know even the slightest taste of true sovereignty—without a fight.

The Obama Omelet

Many still refuse to believe that murder is murder.
Even those who are willing to admit that abortion does end a human life, defend Roe V. Wade by saying that abortion, like alcoholism, cannot be stopped by Prohibition.
Hmmm …

Until America begins to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion, God will allow the Obama Nation to do unto America what Americans have been freely doing unto their own gestating infants.
We must realize that there have been more chefs cooking in the Obama kitchen than we ever imagined, preparing the way for The One to serve up the Obama Omelet: broken shells, broken lives and an irreparably broken America.

Bet on NASCAR fans over gays

The Home Depot story is about the promotion of homosexuality to children, which is being actively supported by a very large, publicly traded corporation, to the probable detriment of its shareholders.
By publicly supporting the homosexual lifestyle, which is a political agenda, and facilitating the exposure of children (of presumably straight parents) to that lifestyle, Home Depot is jeopardizing its business revenue.
From what I can find on the Internet, approximately 50 million Americans follow NASCAR. It's irrelevant how Home Depot management, or even its stockholders, feel about homosexuality, because NASCAR fans have a vote in the matter … a big vote.
They are an intensely brand-loyal group, but they are loyal primarily to the drivers, not the sponsors.
They can and will, if provoked, cast anonymous votes against the sponsors with their feet and their wallets.
Corporate management is supposed to be solely concerned with advancing the financial interests of their stockholders.
Advancing social/political causes, especially in regard to hot-button issues like homosexuality, will run serious risk of antagonizing the huge number of NASCAR fans that Home Depot is trying to reach with its NASCAR sponsorship.
NASCAR fans are not a group one can characterize as being champions of the homosexual lifestyle. They are, at best, tolerant of it – but they are not tolerant of people or organizations that want to expose their children to things that go against their fundamental beliefs.
Home Depot should ask itself how many NASCAR customers, versus homosexual customers, one is likely to find at Home Depot.
Ask also which group represents the greater buying pool. It's not even close.
Around here, it's a tossup as to whether you go to Home Depot or Lowe's. They are undifferentiated businesses; they both stock the same stuff. It usually winds up being who is closer or cheaper. It would not take much to tip that decision and send customers to Lowe's.
I'm sure that Home Depot's sponsorship of homosexual events will bring them some new business. But then ask how much NASCAR business, in response, will turn right and drive over to Lowe's and Jimmie Johnson?
It's a business decision, and if I were holding Home Depot stock, I'd be telling them, "We don't pay you to advance people's social/political agendas. We pay you to make profits and dividends. What were you thinking?!"
The marketplace will sort this one out, as will the shareholders.

The Beatles legend said: "Sadly we need disasters like this to show people. Some people don't believe in climate warming - like those who don't believe there was a Holocaust.
"But the facts indicate that there's something going on and we've got to be aware of it if we want our kids to inherit a decent world, not a complete nightmare of a planet - clean, renewable energy is for starters." We don't serve a cruel God

Unfortunately, many people think "serving God" is submitting to an egomaniacal deity who dwells in heaven and demands, "You must serve me! Obey my commandments and do them with a smile! Or else I will punish you." In actuality, to serve God means to experience complete connection to the source of all life and channel divine presence into the world. Serving God is like the dance serving the dancer, the song serving the singer, the speech serving the speaker.

Purifying the World by Global Governance

The purificationist dream is a world without borders, governed by a global network of NGO's. Almost all current activist organizations containing the words "green", "justice", "peace", or "solidarity" would find a position in the ruling structure.

To the contemporary conservative, progressive ideology is often murky and incomprehensible. It is very difficult for some on the right to understand the apparently illogical and unrealistic machinations of the radical leftist mindset. Their political objectives, if achieved, inevitably lead to further demands for concessions toward an ever-greater ideological purity. Something even darker and more malevolent is happening, however. The various radical leftist factions and special interest groups are rapidly coalescing into a global movement.

Obama and the War Against the Jews

In a letter to President Obama this week, 87 Senators urged the president to support Israel’s right to self-defense against the threats of terrorism from Hamas and Hezbollah and a nuclear-bound Iran that has repeatedly pledged to wipe Israel off the map. For most of Israel’s 60-year existence, the Jewish state has been able to count on the stalwart support of its American ally against the many enemies arrayed against it.

BP: Anglo-Iranian

At we prepare to remember those brave American men and women who served during the Korean war, take a moment to also think about British multinational corporations, such as what is now British Petroleum or BP, that profited by supplying our enemies with petroleum products and other logistical supplies which contributed to the deaths and casualties of so many U.S. troops during that "no-win" conflict.
Further research reveals that every single deployment of U.S. troops into the Middle East since 1990 with "Operation Desert Storm" has actually benefited British Petroleum or BP. The next question after the massive underwater "gusher" in the Gulf of Mexico, should be "Will we invade Iran for British Petroleum's or BP's interests by the Persian Gulf, when that same British-owned multinational corporation was called Anglo-Iranian?"

The danger of 'prayer'

There are those in the Church today who practice what is called “Contemplative Prayer” – a New Age style mantra that is all about emptying one’s mind to allegedly “find God within” by repeating certain words or phrases over and over until the mind is disengaged and no longer thinking – achieving an altered state of consciousness or (alpha state) known as “The Silence” which is indeed “dangerous” considering it opens one up to what the Bible calls “familiar spirits” (demonic influences). It’s rooted in Eastern Mysticism where it is more commonly referred to as “Transcendental Meditation.”
Though Contemplative Prayer is widely practiced in the Emerging Church, it has unfortunately found its way into more traditional churches of late, especially among young people, thanks in part to a host of “Christian” authors who promote it as “Contemplative Spirituality” or “Spiritual Formation.” There is also “Centering Prayer,” “Breath Prayers” and “Lectio Divina” – all of which attempt to achieve the same trance-like state.

Christians at the Bus Stop

You ask: "Is there a spiritual, biblical connection to the BP oil catastrophe?"
Most of us are used to you stretching a point until nothing is left but a vapor trail, but trying to connect today's oil spill in the Gulf to some biblical prediction written thousands of years ago is beyond the pale.
The writers of all that biblical gloom and doom had zero interest in us. They wrote that stuff for consumption by their fellow citizens … to try to scare them into compliance and obedience, They did not write about all that catastrophe and disaster for some far off future society they could not possibly imagine. Why is it so hard to understand that those almost stone-age era predictions were written for the people of the day, not for some totally unknown civilization thousands of years in the future? Where in the Bible – or anywhere else – does it say we and our oil wells are the targets of those long-ago warnings of doom and gloom?
Since the death of Jesus, people in every generation – for over 2,000 years and hundreds of generations – have wanted to be the one that experiences the end of days. None has. There must be a clue in there somewhere for you.
If you waited at a bus stop for a predicted bus for 2,000 years, at what point would you conclude that the bus wasn't coming? Or would you just stand there – forever – because somebody had stuck up a "bus stop" sign?

Obama is the god that failed

When I first read Obama’s autobiography I thought he was a good guy and smart but there was a certain lack of authenticity to him. That he took drugs in high school was spun. Say what you like, but there is nothing philosophical about it. Half the pudknockers in east Texas were probably stoned in high school in that period. And the tone echoed Richard Wright, a far better writer with more to say. It was prose-driven ideology with familiar metaphors and messages — like rock ‘n’ roll after they abandoned the roll; Original Article

The black horror oil spill requires all of US

If events unfold according to the estimates of the more pessimistic experts, the damage will be pervasive, extensive, intensive, and persistent in the Gulf States, and perhaps up the East Coast of the United States and even beyond. Obviously, if these dire prognostications are anywhere near accurate, America must deal with the flood of crude oil and its inevitable consequences, immediately and effectively, before things get entirely out of hand. The question is: “How?” Emergency assistance of all kinds for people in the Gulf States will be necessary—but who will provide it; and, perhaps more to the point, who will actually deliver it to the victims most in need? The clean-up will require a staggering amount of human effort—but where are sufficient “boots on the ground” to be found? And eventual return to a state of living approaching “normalcy” will demand massive short- and long-term readjustments, remediation, rebuilding, and even rethinking of the local economies in the affected regions—but in what way can America insure that the primary beneficiaries of this work will be the people in the region, not simply public officials, government employees and contractors, politicians, and assorted special-interest groups trying (as they always do) to gouge abusive political and monetary profits from human misfortune and misery?

Gay Daze at Fox News

As CNN prepares to celebrate “gay pride” on June 24 by airing its propagandistic pro-homosexual special program, “Gary and Tony Have a Baby,” several high-profile conservatives, including two Fox News personalities, have embraced the gay rights cause.
While it is not surprising that CNN would act as a mouthpiece of the gay rights movement, the emergence of anti-tax activist Grover Norquist and Fox News contributors Tucker Carlson and Margaret Hoover in the campaign to normalize homosexual behavior has attracted some media attention.
It appears they are in the vanguard of a well-funded effort to divide the conservative movement and dump Christian conservatives as a key constituency for the GOP.

Disappointed in Governor Sarah Palin

Whether she was called by the Lord, or whether she is a creature of fate, time will tell. But rarely in world history has anyone been given such a platform from which to speak at such a transitional time in the affairs of men. At no time in the history of America has Christianity been so under attack.

“Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” -Psalm 75
If Governor Palin has been elevated to this platform has she been called to turn people back to God…or back to the GOP? It is THE question upon which her ultimate impact will ride.

Having lived in Dearborn my whole life, except for my military service, I have long-known how the Muslim community treats us. When I got out of the service, I felt shame and betrayal because of the people of this city and their attitudes toward an American America; too many people here want to make this a European, or Middle Eastern, America (which means no America at all).
I pray constantly to be given a means to get out of here, and back into America.
