Obama's scatterbrain policies

As time passes, I am continually growing dismayed and livid over what our president, his Cabinet, and puppy-tail Dems (really Progressive Liberals or Socialists) are doing to our country. I have been working on this series all year, hoping that offering my thoughts in “Parts” would allow me to gain some perspective on the situation, and give Mr. Obama a better chance of rectifying the damage he has done to our country. However, I see that giving him additional time to make things right has only topsy-turvied our nation even more, and thus, we are now in worse shape than ever. Let’s look at additional factors that give our country a sense of malaise, a sense of defeat, and an overwhelming anger...

Mr. Obama shows no true patriotism or loyalty to our country, and even called his own kingdom “arrogant.” Our president shows little pride for our nation.

Resorts to melodrama hyperbole and rhetoric, as well as scapegoating. Obama relies on his rhetoric, which is often punched up with mendacity or false impressions, outright lies.

Mr. Obama displays total disregard for our freedoms and the unfair use of cronyism. Mr. Obama has forced socialized medicine down our throats for a mere 30 million people who either do not have or do not want to purchase health care.

Imposed governmental control not only on health care, but also in the auto industry (with Mr. Obama becoming CEO of GM), and the banking system. For a video he made explaining his motives, he dressed in a white robe with a red and white headdress, telling undercover agents whom he thought were his accomplices that he wanted to dress “Sheikh Osama style.” He began the video by repeating traditional Islamic prayers and invocations: “I take refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed; in the name of Allah, the merciful, the compassionate; all praise be to Allah, we praise him, we seek his assistance and forgiveness.”
He then warned Americans that “a dark day is coming your way,” for “as long as you threaten our security, your people will not remain safe.” He asked: “Did you think that you could invade a Muslim land, and we would not invade you,” and boasted that “Allah will have soldiers scattered everywhere across the world.” He challenged Muslims living in the United States: “What has stopped you from fighting in the cause of Allah?” And he predicted that “you will see the victory of Islam.”

Stop nurturing your child's self-esteem

By now, most people (with the exception of many psychotherapists) recognize that the self-esteem movement officially launched by California in 1986 has been at best silly and at worst injurious to society, despite whatever small benefit it may have had to some individuals.
The movement was begun by California Assemblyman John Vasconcellos. As the New York Times reported, "Mr. Vasconcellos, a 53-year-old Democrat, is described by an aide as 'the most radical humanist in the Legislature.'"
In an interview at the time, Vasconcellos told me he had personally benefited from therapy. It enabled him to improve the poor self-esteem he had inherited from his childhood. He therefore concluded that improving other people's self-esteem would greatly help society.
And so, California created its Task Force to Promote Self-Esteem and Personal and Social Responsibility, whose guiding principle was to raise young people's self-esteem in order to increase the number of socially responsible people in society.
This belief – that increasing self-esteem among the members of society will increase goodness in society – spread through the rest of America like proverbial wildfire.

European Union: R.I.P.?

Monday's stock and bond sell-off across Europe testifies to a belief that this storm is far from over.

Social issues and the tea party

Raging across the blogosphere and the tea-party world is the question: What role should social issues play in the tea-party movement?
This flame up started two weeks ago, when GOProud released a letter addressed to the new Republican leadership. This letter was problematic for two reasons. First, GOProud is not now, nor has it ever been, a tea-party group, yet it claimed to speak for this movement. Second, the homosexual group told the Republicans to stay away from social issues.
One of the biggest problems with the GOProud letter was that it did not define social issues. The non-conservatives at GOProud simply by fiat wanted to order the GOP to stay away from issues this group did not want them to act on.

Obama's Korea non-response

Your vote will decide who answers that call, whether it's someone who already knows the world's leaders, knows the military – someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world. It's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?"
It may have been an ad designed to frighten people into voting for Hillary, but in November 2010, the phone call wasn't at 3 a.m., it came at 4 a.m. – and it came with the notification that a certifiable bad guy had just launched an artillery barrage on South Korea.
This wasn't a skit on "Saturday Night Live" – the question must be asked, is this the man we want in the White House during these perilous times? Look, I have made no pretense of not liking Obama. I don't like him, I don't trust him, and I have zero confidence in the socialist, anarchistic cabal called his administration. Most importantly, I view him as being incapable of making the decisions all leaders at some point during their tenure must make.
Obama's ability to juggle playing golf, basketball and surviving a fat lip, while blaming former President George W. Bush for his own failings, is not representative of the leadership America needs.

These unmarried teen mothers fail to graduate from high school—while they birth two, three, four and more children while living full-time off welfare.
The rate of U.S. taxpayer welfare dollars for this new generation of illiterate, irresponsible, unemployed and un-trainable armada of citizens and non-citizens—grows annually with massive immigrant loading of 3.1 million. Substituting for Rush Limbaugh, radio host Mark Steyn on November 19 referred to a statement by New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman in which the latter asserted that although the Chinese Communist leaders are dictators, because their management of China is “reasonable” they can move their nation forward. Steyn correctly asked, “Forward to what?” What Steyn doesn’t realize is that Friedman’s remark is part of a pattern. Remember that in The New York Times (April 10, 1973), CFR chairman David Rockefeller wrote about the “progress” of China under the dictatorship of Chairman Mao, “whatever the price of the Chinese Revolution.” It was common knowledge that Mao had brutally tortured and killed tens of millions of innocent Chinese.
And regarding the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) new invasive pat-downs, Rush Limbaugh on November 22 said, “I don’t care how you slice this. The bad dream of environmentalism

These people actually seemed to believe that experts and politicians have supernatural powers to predict the future and control the climate. They believed that experts know how fast temperatures will rise by when, and what the consequences will be, and that we know what to do about it. Prior to November's secular-socialism rollback, America's ever-shrill "progressive" machine contorted in a desperate effort to paint the Tea Party movement as a horde of hateful, inbred racists. Judging by the results, it was an epic failure.
Instead, and thanks at least in part to the left's overreaching smear campaign, the grass-roots Tea Party groundswell - representing every facet of traditional American values - grew to become a political force of nature.
Now the frays of the fanatical fringe have done it again. These so-called "progressives," led by the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center SPLC, have gifted the American mainstream with yet another teachable moment. The SPLC is a small, hard-left political activist outfit known for promoting a panoply of radical liberal causes. Liberals hate tax facts

Congress is not voting on tax cuts, but rather, whether or not they should allow tax increases to take effect Jan. 1, 2011.
The Democrats have tried to convince the American people that the Republicans want to pass "tax cuts for the rich." But, in reality, conservatives want to provide a bit of economic certainty by maintaining the current tax rates for all. In fact, Speaker-elect John Boehner, R-Ohio, says that keeping these tax rates is the most sensible way to "reduce the uncertainty in America and help small businesses begin to create jobs again."

Islam can defeat America

Do you want to know why the radical Islamists around the world can defeat the U.S.?

Keep in mind conflict between the West and Islam virtually defines world history for the last 1,300 years. Communism is but a tiny blip of 70 years during that period. Nazism, even less. But if you take a wide view of history through conflicts – conflicts that have killed untold millions – it's been 13 centuries of war between Islam and most of the rest of the world, not just the West.
In fact, during that time, there was only a very brief respite from major conflict – from the end of World War I and defeat of the Ottoman Empire until 1979. That represents only 61 years of relative peace between Islam and the rest of the world. And, even during that period, there were four major regional wars in the Middle East between Israel and the Arab states, all prompted by Islamic hatred of the Jewish state.
So how can we be so blind to the tide of history?

Willie Nelson defines America today...

A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman says country singer Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession after 6 ounces was found aboard his tour bus in Texas.
Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana.
Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested.
Sheriff Arvin West didn't immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.

But Mr. Obama finally did weigh in by stating that “We strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea.”
Our democratic allies in the Pacific can be forgiven for doubting this resolve, given that the White House has focused more effort recently on passing the START treaty, which could eviscerate our missile defense and further impair our strategic deterrence, than addressing the threat at hand, with its broadening nuclear ambitions and brazen aggression. A 2.5 magnitude quake was recorded about 10:09 a.m. Thursday with the epicenter about three miles east of Arcadia.
Another 2.8 magnitude earthquake followed about a minute later, centered about four miles from Arcadia.

North Korea prepares for war

Vladnews agency, based in Vladivostok, reported that North Korean workers had left the town of Nakhodka en masse shortly after the escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula earlier this week. "Traders have left the kiosks and markets, workers have abandoned building sites, and North Korean secret service employees working in the region have joined them and left," the agency reported. Russia's migration service said that there were over 20,000 North Koreans in Russia at the beginning of 2010, of which the vast majority worked in construction. Mythology of Immigration

Here are three myths central to the problem of immigration:
Myth No. 1: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses/The wretched refuse of your teeming shore..." Well, not quite. Emma Lazarus's 1883 poem "The New Colossus" -- written in the year the Statue of Liberty was dedicated -- has been taken by many to reflect a true picture of immigration. This is not the case. From the colonial period on, there were standards that immigrants had to meet. Originally addressed at the regional level, then by the states, they were eventually federalized. The immigration stations, such as the one at Ellis Island in New York harbor, were not welcoming centers. They were processing points for the inspection and certification of new arrivals. Individuals with physical or mental problems, or who were known to be criminals in their country of origin, were denied entry. Older or underage family members required sponsorship. All of this was to ensure that the newly arrived immigrants would not be a burden to their new country and could either support themselves or be supported by others.

Forgetting America’s Christian Heritage

When I was growing up on the farm, there were very few farm families that didn’t have a few chickens, a few hogs, a few cows and maybe some sheep, ducks or geese. We grew most of our vegetables and all the feed for our livestock and poultry. The typical farmer was completely self sufficient. The chickens and eggs paid for the food items that were not grown at home: flour – bananas – coffee – sugar – salt. The hogs and cattle made the farm mortgage payments and paid for other farm expenses and living expenses. In the late 1940s, the Colleges of Agriculture at the Land Grant Universities began teaching the younger generation of “agriculturalists” that farmers must become more efficient – get bigger – get better – concentrate on expanding production.
The little two plow tractors were replaced with larger models, neighbors bought out the farm next door, the beef herds grew and farmers began buying their milk and eggs at the grocery store. The small flocks of 100 laying hens were no longer, and only a few farmers put up laying houses that housed thousands of birds. Then – Corporate agriculture entered the picture, building “processing plants” and feed mills. It wasn’t long until Purina, Tyson, Cargill, and a handful of other corporations, had complete control of the poultry and egg industry. There was no longer a free market and poultry farmers became “serfs” on their own land. Learning from their own experiences in the poultry industry, these same corporations began expanding into hog production. Some lacked international experience and some lacked legislative experience, but none lacked operational leadership experience until Obama. He is a lawyer who lacks any operational executive experience.
So where does that suggest the United States is in its maturity/life cycle?
Let's look at the Obama platform during the 2008 election. Redistributing wealth. Health-care insurance – not health care as a product, but health-care insurance. Redirecting funds from Iraq to service projects. Appointing liberal judges. Changing laws about union voting rules, gun ownership and the "Fairness Doctrine." Dangers of a 'sustainable community'

The term "sustainable community" sounds warm and fuzzy. Who could possibly oppose a sustainable community? "Sustainable" means something that lasts – or is sustained – forever. The term "sustainable community" is an offspring of the term "sustainable development," which was coined by the World Commission on Environment and Development back in 1987, and refined in Agenda 21, adopted by 179 nations (including the U.S.) at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development in 1992. Among the first recommendations found in Agenda 21 is the recommendation that each nation establish its own program of "sustainable development" to implement all the recommendations in the 40 chapters of Agenda 21. Me, a 'domestic extremist'?

We have some dear friends who are Traditional Catholics. Like many conservative Christians, this means the women dress modestly and in skirts. Their 15-year-old daughter, GG, is attending a boarding school in our region, and since she's so far from home, we're blessed to have her with us this Thanksgiving weekend.
But her parents are worried about GG's Christmas break. "What with the whole nude body scanner/groping issue at the airport, I'm fretting about having her fly home," wrote her mother.
Let's face it, the (cough) "security" measures being implement by the TSA right now are daunting enough for an adult, but for a modest teen girl flying alone, they're terrifying. "I won't let them touch me," GG told me, panic in her voice. The thought of strangers running their hands over her intimate parts is completely antithetical to both her religious and her personal convictions.
And for that bit of unacceptable defiance, our young friend can be labeled a "domestic extremist."

'Profilophobia'

Travelers looking for an explanation for the idiocy of the TSA full-body scans and intimate pat downs are missing the boat if they think TSA employees are a group of voyeurs or just plain stupid. There is a method to the madness.
The TSA madness is a logical expression of political correctness carried into the realm of national security. These new TSA practices do not make travelers safer, but they do something more important to the federal bureaucracy. They satisfy the politically correct mandate, "Thou shalt not profile."
Since TSA must avoid "profiling" at all costs, they must treat everyone – literally everyone – as a potential terrorist. This makes no sense as a security measure, but it makes a lot of sense if your primary goal is to avoid lawsuits for "profiling." In the TSA world, profiling is the cardinal sin, even if it is the rational way to identify likely terrorists.
To be fair, profilophobia did not start with TSA. It's been with us for decades. However, we can thank TSA for spotlighting the malaise in a very dramatic fashion. Glenn Beck recently did a show in which he talked about how he and his wife had decided to downsize their lives. As a result, he said they literally cut their possessions in half, and he urged his audience to do the same. He believes it's an important step in preparing for the bad times ahead. As has been the case with Beck so often in the past, his little talk about the efficacy of downsizing inspired me.
That there are bad times on the horizon is a given. I was writing about the probability of a runaway inflation and subsequent collapse of the foundations of American society as early as the late seventies. I was far from alone in my thinking … Harry Browne, Gary North, Jim Blanchard and a number of other "hard-money" newsletter writers come to mind.
At the time, of course, establishment political types and the mainstream media dismissed all of us as doomsayers. When I did television shows, I think the producers and hosts saw me as a kind of novelty – sort of like a Richard Simmons in a suit and tie. They must have been thinking, "Isn't he hysterical? The collapse of Western civilization? The next thing you know, he'll be telling us there's a Marxist conspiracy afoot to fundamentally transform the United States of America."
But I digress … back to Glenn Beck and downsizing. Like most entrepreneurs, small businesspeople, writers and other independent professionals, I've thrown out hundreds of thousands of letters and documents over the years. Those aspirations allow farm boys to play in the New York Philharmonic, or a Texas kid to sing the National Anthem in Yankee Stadium, or a poor black girl like Oprah Winfrey to become a movie star, fabulously rich and the host of the Oprah Show. She that educates and enlightens millions around the world. It allows inner-city ghetto kids like O.J. Simpson to gain stardom, money and a mega-wealthy home—only to sit in prison for his transgressions.
It allows men like Bernie Madoff to rise to astonishing wealth only to fall into disgrace and prison. The American Dream allows a poor white kid like Abe Lincoln to rise to the presidency as well as an illegitimate black kid like Barack Obama to sit in the White House in 2010. God gave us the imposter - for a time

This Thanksgiving, I'm especially grateful for the gift of irony. How else to explain that an undocumented immigrant who has spent almost $2 million over the past two years hiding his own identity and documentation papers now demands that other Americans present their identity papers – as well as their private parts for government examination – prior to boarding an airplane and traveling for the holidays.
The gift of irony also helps us to appreciate the humor in Hillary Clinton's actions at the State Department. For the past several months, Mrs. Clinton has facilitated (read paid large sums of taxpayer money to) Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, who negotiated with the Afghan government, the United States and NATO on behalf of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Fortunately or unfortunately for all involved, Mr. Mansour was an impostor. Who better than Hillary to carry bags of money and diplomatic messages back and forth between a Taliban impostor and an Oval Office impostor?

Be thankful for technological gifts

Recently, I had my first Skype phone call. For those of you who don't know, Skype is one of many "Voice Over IP," or VoIP, services. These enable users to make phone calls using the Internet. An elaborate variety of phones for Skype and VoIP services are available, but in my case all I needed was my computer, a microphone and a webcam.
As I chatted with my business contact, who was seated in his library several states away, I marveled at the high sound quality and the clear picture – a picture that was better on his than on mine, if it matters, because he had a better-quality camera. We wrapped up our business concerning some freelance writing projects and I reached for the mouse.
Then it hit me. It's the future.
The same sensation came to me during a late-night drive on the busy four-lane highway carved across most of the breadth of New York State. Every car that passed me had glowing lights inside. I saw countless GPS devices, DVD players and kids playing video games ... all in the comfort of their cars at 75 miles per hour. As a child, I dreamed of being able to watch television or play video games during the four-hour drive across the state to visit my grandparents. Now, kids take those fantasies for granted. If they don't have a video-game system in their parents' cars, they've got one in their pockets – and that portable device with its full-color screen plays games more advanced than those I played on the primitive Atari and Nintendo consoles of my youth.
It's the future. Everything we ever dreamed about, everything we ever pictured in science fiction movies and television, has come to pass. Sure, we're still a ways away from the jet packs and rocket cars laughably predicted for the late '70s by magazines like Popular Mechanics, but we've got robots performing surgery. Our cars talk to us, know where we are and tell us where we need to go. I'm appalled at the way Americans have forgotten the meaning of Thanksgiving.
Have you checked out what your children are learning about this holiday in both government and too many private schools? The Pilgrims had a rough time when they first landed on Plymouth Rock. Finally, the friendly native Americans taught the European plunderers how to fish and plant corn. The harvest feast held by William Bradford and the gang was a way for the Pilgrims to thank the Indians for saving their lives. Thus, Thanksgiving.
Some schools go even further, suggesting Thanksgiving should be a time of national mourning because of the way the indigenous native Americans, my ancestors included, were exploited by white settlers in the New World.
As for me, Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, a time for family, a time for reflection, a time for feast and a time for praising God for all He has bestowed upon us – all of us who believe in Him and worship Him.
I love it!
Though it's a uniquely American tradition, the roots of Thanksgiving go back to ancient Israel. In a real sense, the Jews invented Thanksgiving. I count 29 references to the word "thanksgiving" in the King James Bible – all but nine in the Old Testament. For the ancient children of Israel, thanksgiving was a time of feasting and fasting, of praising God, of singing songs. Feeling up Frank, molesting Pelosi

As long as the head of the TSA refuses to get rid of the intrusive, possibly dangerous airport searches, how about requiring members of Congress to go through the same security screening in order to enter hallowed congressional office buildings?
Not just Barney Frank – I mean all members of Congress. "We've patted you down twice, Congressman Frank. Why don't you just go to your office now?"
The Rayburn House Office Building is a far more likely target for a terrorist attack than a random flight out of a random American airport. But every passenger on every flight in America must allow a TSA agent to get to second base with them, in some cases third base, or appear live in a nude video in order to board the plane.
If that's necessary to keep us airline passengers safe, why not use the same security procedures to protect members of Congress?

Subjugate the American people?

One of the worst human qualities is the desire or addiction of gaining pleasure from the pain of other human beings. It is a seemingly universal trait that in its most benign form manifests as laughter when someone trips. In its most maniacal form it manifests as torture and oppression as commonly demonstrated in totalitarian societies.
Alarmingly, this is what we are witnessing give birth right before our eyes. The Obama administration has now engaged in a systematic campaign of terror against those that refuse to be submitted to an illegal search of their person by way of the invasive porno scanners. The punishment for not obeying the federal government is the humiliating experience of having to undergo a sexual assault as TSA thugs grope traveler's genitalia. There have been repeated instances of little children being sexually molested by TSA agents, the elderly being traumatized and the chronically ill being humiliated.
To date, the only politician on the national stage that has addressed the issue properly is Texas Rep. Ron Paul. Are the other potential presidential candidates really that dumb, or are they all bought and paid for? There seems to be a lot of politicians that talk about the Constitution in an election year that aren't too outraged over its trampling right after an election.
The Obama administration has declared war on freedom, war on human dignity and war on Americans. If it is unlawful to peep at someone in the nude against their will or to grope their genitals without their permission, then it is unlawful for the government to do so.
