Daily Bible Verse, January 31

Jonah 4:2

(2) So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.
New King James Version Change Bible versions
God's patience delays His wrath, allowing time for good to occur. We should also note the other qualities patience is combined with in these last two references. In combination with patience, the qualities of grace, mercy, lovingkindness, goodness, and truth allow God to work with people so they can remain alive and eventually transform into His image. If God struck out at people just as short-fused humans frequently do, no one would be alive today. Jonah, in a typically human reaction, wanted God to wipe the sinners of Nineveh, Israel's enemy, off the face of the earth!
Nineveh was undoubtedly just as full of sinners as Israel. But God, bearing patiently with them in their ignorance, sent Jonah to proclaim His warning message to them: Destruction would fall on them in forty days. They, however, believed the message, proclaimed a fast, prayed mightily to God, repented, and turned from their evil ways. Their repentance may not have been Davidic, but under the circumstances God was pleased.
II Peter 3:9 affirms that God still operates in the same manner:
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Perfect Day

On this perfect day
the smell of coffee
a bite of toast
and the girl I love the most

Out the door
we stop for a kiss
I think - it doesn't get better than this

In the car you look at me -
numbnuts where you goin'?

Millie Mills you forgot?
We're goin' for a ride
to see if we can get a cookie

We drive over there
We drive everywhere

We Oxford gamble, yes...
'Wicked good fun, bubba!

Out to eat at Uno's yum!
ain't we havin' fun!

Even stop a very goodwill shop
and then an ice cream too

Yes it must be summer
there's so much left to do!

I rub Millie's back, I pinch her butt
Hey! (she says)

Tired, I turn out the light
Millie Mills, I love you with all my might!

Battle of Pequawket (FRYEBURG)

The Battle of Pequawket (also known as Lovewell's Fight) occurred on May 9, 1725 (O.S.),[1] during Father Rale's War in northern New EnglandRanger Captain John Lovewellled the New England troops, and Chief Paugus led the Abenaki at Pequawket,[2] the site of present-day Fryeburg, Maine. The battle was related to the expansion of New England settlements along the Kennebec River (in present-day Maine).
The battle marked the end of hostilities between the English and the western Wabanakis of Maine. So important was it to western Maine, New Hampshire and evenMassachusetts colonists that the Fight was celebrated in song and story, and its importance was not eclipsed until the American Revolution.[3]
